BRIAN MAY - FURIA (2000)After the Another World tour Brian was approached to make the soundtrack for this French film. He watched a rough edit of the film and Brian was affected quite deeply so he decided to commit himself to a full scoring of the film. This was his first solo attempt to score a film. ***I should note here - that there is an Australian film composer named Brian May - so quite often people think Brian has done a wealth of scores - NOT true. This is the only one outside of his Queen years with Flash Gordon and Highlander. - No Mad Max, Dr. Giggles or Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare*** The film is adapted from a Julio Cortazar story called "Graffiti". It is a dark and disturbing film and Brian did his best to mirror that darkness. The soundtrack consists of one actual song, two tracks that Brian had no involvement with except putting them on the soundtrack, and the rest are short instrumental pieces (all of them based on the same repetitive theme) Tracks on the album1. Furia Theme (Opening Titles) (May) 2. First Glance (Solo Flute) (May) 3. Landscape (May) 4. Tango ("Cuesta Abajo") (Gardel) --- BRIAN HAD NO INVOLVEMENT 5. The Meeting (Solo Guitar) (May) 6. First Kiss (May) 7. Storm (May) 8. Phone (May) 9. Pursuit (May) 10. Diner (May) 11. Apparition (May) 12. Arrest (May) 13. Father and Son (May) 14. Aaron (May) 15. Fire (May) 16. Gun (Solo Violin) (May) 17. Reggae" "Bird In Hand" (Perry) --- BRIAN HAD NO INVOLVEMENT 18. Killing (May) 19. Escape (May) 20. Go On (May) 21. Dream of Thee (May) 22. Alternative Gun (May) I'm going to play this by ear a bit as I may go through this one a bit quicker and include a few tracks at a time as there are no alternatives or live readings of the tracks. I'm also going to skip the non-Brian involved tracks. So first up will probably be the first 3 tracks...but that could change

OT... Talon... if/when QAL will eventually tour in US/Canada how likely are they going to change their setlist from the one in Europe? I wonder if they will ask the fans again for suggestions. They will probably do the same ENCORE (WWRY - slow and WATC), right? It would be fun to have "guess" setlist once they announce the fruition of this QAL North American tour.

To be honest, I would bet they wouldn't change it up very much at all. I think in their (a bit old fashioned) mind that America hasn't seen this show yet so they can give them the same show as the European tour. So unless there are more European dates added, that won't matter to much for them. On the other hand, they might tweak it for a NA audience much like they did when they toured with PR. Songs like I Want To Break Free and Days Of Our Lives (not as well known in the US) are tossed for more popular American songs.
So to sum up - I would think a minor tweak or two but generally the same show would be my guess.

A three-fer...with no YT vids :( Sorry guys. But Furia wasn't completely put up by fans over the years. But as I've said previously it really is the same theme done a million different ways! So you aren't missing a *WHOLE* lot.
Aaron Written by: Brian May
Musicians:
Brian May - guitars, programming, keyboards London Musicians Orchestra - strings Michael Reed - orchestration, conductor
NO YT VID
- Variation on the main theme, slightly lower key - Played mainly on the French horn
Fire Written by: Brian May
Musicians:
Brian May - guitars, programming, keyboards London Musicians Orchestra - strings Michael Reed - orchestration, conductor
NO YT VID
- Dark keyboard piece with accents from the orchestra
Gun (Solo Violin) Written by: Brian May
Musicians:
Rolf Wilson - solo violin
NO YT VID
- Another variation of the main theme, this time on violin.
ALTERNATIVE VERSIONS
Gun (Alternative Version)
Musicians:
Philippa Davies - flute
- Slightly different version from ‘Gun’ as it's performed by the flute. - This track is included on the album as a bonus track but I figured I'd place it here with the original.
NEXT?
One more 3-fer and then an actual song on the album. Brian at his best on that one...but first: Killing, Escape and Go On
