Wow. That was quite an interesting track!! Need to listen quite a few more times to really process it but talk about rock opera!!! I love the insight into Freddie that is and will be coming out listening to all these tracks. I never had the chance to see or here him as I was firmly ensconced in the classical world. Loved the choral part at the end after Mother Mercury. There was a huge difference for me in the energy in the BBC version.
Probably the difference between recording at 3am after being woken up to recording at a properly scheduled time :D But absolutely. I've always said that Queen isn't really classic rock...they are Classical Rock. :D That becomes even more apparent as they go on!
I saw online that Freddie did a snippet of a piano part of this track as an intro to Somebody to Love in a concert in Japan
Same basic thing as what I posted....that was just the full medley....and not to nitpick - but it's POST somebody to Love and before Killer Queen!
Ah yes, I love the poem myself, indeed Browning in general
Hearing FM here is bittersweet, listening with pleasure mingled with pain ....so many "I wish" that's not gonna happen anymore...
I live with that every day. I always see new and exciting things and wonder how Freddie would react...what Freddie would be doing? Would Freddie have gone for judging AI for example? Would Freddie have written an entire rock musical? Who else would Freddie have collaborated with? How much more great music would we have? And still have?!?
Really impressed with RT's voice...that's probably why he recognized Adam's voice and vocal range as he himself can sanggggg ;D
lol! Yeah it's not often you get a world class drummer who could probably front most bands
BM...what can I say? That sound he produced in that intro is pure artistry using whatever he can to create a sound fitting to the vibe of the music they're playing and of course creating that layers of guitar sound is genius. I thought he did this in the years later but he did it even then at the start.
Oh yeah right from the beginning and so distinctive. Brian's guitar is like a fourth voice. Such a tapestry
They were so lucky to find each other, not just the music writing but their voices... blending so well and thus create a fusion of amazing sound.
Overall this song (for me) is a true fusion of rock and opera. Pure artistry in all... I am speechless!

Really a total package and they balanced each other so well!
