Is BBC's Top Of The Pops similar to the US Top 40 or Billboard Hot 100?
ETA: Although I did remember voting for NCOE in the UK Top of The Chart (maybe they changed the name)... just curious.

It was a weekly TV show in the UK with live performances from bands and artists who were in the official charts (i.e. the UK top 40) that week

Here's something OT but funny, Nirvana had to play to a backing track but were allowed a live vocal, here's what happened:

Could that guitarist act more OTT? Never heard Kurt sing so this a pleasant surprise :D

Good afternoon, talon, the intrepid cornucopia of all things Queen. You really are a treasure on this forum. Just dropping a note to mention that the Guitar World Greatest Guitarist of All Time has Brian up against Jimmy Page today for a spot in the final 4. Brian's way behind (about 75% to 25%), and the Queen online forum doesn't have a link to the poll up today. If you have any insite there, maybe you could drop a word to the webmistress? www.guitarworld.com/poll-greatest-guitarist-all-time-round-5-jimmy-page-vs-brian-mayI don't have much pull! :( BUT also this is one place where Queen fandom and AL fandom definitely split. Most of Queen fandom don't care a WHIT about polls and never bother anyways. So posting it there wouldn't do much good anyways probably! But I did vote OK, you're gonna kill me when you read this suggestion, but could you put in page numbers in the index so we can find things fast? I won't kill you Yet. I could absolutely do that soon. Do you think it is necessary since everything is linked so you can just click to exactly where you need to go. If you think it would help still, I'll be glad to do it :D Ohhh crazy! I checked out the alternate TOTP version since you put it as essential listening and this is my favourite Queen song... this is the version I've always known, my family have always played, I've always heard on the radio... Day at the Races version is new to me How interesting! I wonder if that's a UK thing, that they played the TOTP version as a sort of "single" mix or something. Thanks Gabby for pointing out what I missed in the daily thread Yeah Queen actually hated TOTP for that very reason but realized that it was one of the best ways to publicize their singles.

So posting it there wouldn't do much good anyways probably! But I did vote Thanks, talon. I did remember you saying before that the Queen fans aren't big on voting but that somehow Queen band members always seem to do well in polls. The QOL site put up a link to the poll last heat and Brian did extremely well. Not so much this time, so I thought maybe the Queen fans had made up some of the difference last time. Brian's already made it into the Top 8 Greatest Guitarists of All Time, so that's not bad. I've noticed Guitar World Magazine's reader rankings are often cited in articles by other publications, and on wikipedia, etc. It would have been great to have Brian in the Top 4, but I don't think it's meant to be this time.

Well I ended up passing it along anyways figuring some stragglers might vote and Brian definitely had a resurgence but not quite enough. But ah well. I know who my favorite guitarist is -Edited in to say that he just took the lead Considering how far behind he was I'm impressed!
