Are you any closer to recording new material with Queen? I don’t see that happening, to be honest with you. Not under the name Queen. To me, Queen is Brian May, Roger Taylor, John Deacon and Freddie Mercury, as far as recordings go. What we did on this tour was a collaboration. It was a beautiful opportunity to get up on stage with this amazing band and bring these songs to life It might continue, as a live collaboration, but what would we record? We’re not going to re-record any of their hits. That’d be sacrilege. That would be too weird. I think if we were to record new music, I don’t know if it would be under the name Queen. Maybe I’m overthinking it, but that’s just kind of my stance on it. But I was excited to snag Brian for my album! That sounds a bit different than the little edit of it we had earlier. Before we just heard: I don’t see that happening, to be honest with you. What would we record? We’re not going to re-record any of their hits. That’d be sacrilege. But I was excited to snag Brian for my album! The full answer is MUCH different. And if I'm honest - most of the hardcore Queen fans would salute this answer 110%. They say the same thing...and probably would be much less hostile if they went about it under a different monniker.

Has anyone noticed if the Tove Lo and Brian May fandoms are aware of collaborations on TOH? Queen fans are aware of "Lucy". They have had decades to organize and create online forums/networks. My take is some Queen fans like TOH, most are not interested in it and do not like pop music and/or electronic instrumentation. Here is one quote from a Queen fan who has become an Adam fan, "It's a pretty good album I think....worth listening to it to hear the Red Special wailing away on "Lucy", at the very least :D" The Queen fans are mostly interested in the South American tour and if Adam is going to record with Queen. Tove Lo is so new there is not a lot of online fan activity -- at least not in English. And there are not a lot of comments on articles about her (yet). She really is not an established pop star, she is an artist with two hit pop songs. She had a big, sleeper US hit in 2013, "Habits" #3 BB Hot 100/#1 Top 40, but did not build a fan base here. Her album, "Queen of the Clouds" (2014) peaked at #14 in the US -- #6 in Sweden -- has not had the expected impact, around 26,000 total copies sold in the US. But now with "Talking Body" having an impact in the US and Canada, she is doing radio promo concerts here. But I am not seeing much in the way of a "fandom" forming. This collab is a win-win -- great for Adam, but also is getting her a lot of press and exposure. [She is doing a lot of festival concerts - Firefly and Lollapoolza, radio promos, and some one-off solo concerts -- and that should build her fanbase.] Sorry so late - I've been busy. I would second Q3 here for the most part. The hardcore Queen fans are aware and at least half pf those will purchase simply because they (like me) are completists. I would buy a Justin Bieber album (*SHUDDER* Please no.) if Brian did a solo on it). I do think Adam won many fans over during the tours but fans of him, not necessarily his music. It's more that Adam won their respect, but they aren't going to switch their musical tastes. I'm sure a HUGE amount of fans gained respect for Montserrat Caballe during the Barcelona album, but the fans of Freddie were mostly rock fans and weren't going to start buying opera albums en masse. If Adam had done a more rock album, he would have had a better shot at retaining Queen fans for his music...but he wants the pop ring so it is what it is

Brought over from the tail end of yesterday:
Ok not sure if this was mentioned at all - didn't have a chance to skim and the search function was down....
An interview with Brian (and Kerry Ellis) done today in the UK and he talks about a ton of stuff and how he used to sing and now thinks he can't really sing which is why he works with Kerry and with Queen, etc. Around 12:32 the interviewer asks about Queen (and Adam) giving Adam praise and Brian says they are doing a few dates and that it is still an ongoing thing whenever Adam and they have the time.
BUT the most interesting part was the next question when the interviewer asks "if you are to write a song it's more likely to end up with Kerry than with Queen (and Adam)" and Brian's answer is..."Weeeeellllll....that's an interesting question - either! or both" in that "I don't want to give too much away" voice and then he quickly veers it to that he's written for Kerry.
SO it's an intriguing answer....

Brian and Kerry Ellis did an interview today on a UK radio show and they touched on all sorts of things:
Mainly that there are working on Anthems II for a hopeful release of the end of the year or the beginning of next.
Interesting point though when asked about QAL he said it is ongoing - he only said there were the 6 shows in South America but then said it was still ongoing. BUT the more interesting point is when the interviewer said...So if you write a song is it more likely to end up with Kerry than with Queen (and Adam) and Brian's response was..."Weeeelllllll that's an interesting question....uhh...either or both..." in that Brianesque "I don't want to give too much away" and he quickly veered into that he had written some stuff for Kerry.
So there's that...we'll see.

"I am the LIGHT"! Yes, you are, baby! This album is everything I could (but didn't) imagine. I love every single track and I've been dancing around my house like a whirling dervish for hours, but "There I Said It" makes my heart---my SOUL--flow from my chest with so much longing, regret, and fucking redemption...I can't even... I love this man and HIS music. He is brilliant and stands in no one's shadow. Not even an "iconic" rock band's and their "legendary" front man. If POP isn't your cuppa, stand aside and make more room for the rest of us to dive into this potent tank of pop-y spirits to swim and float and drink 'em up in lusty gulps...and quite possibly drown! I can die happy. After all these years, this man still surprises and amazes me. He radiates talent, ability, and creativity with such force that we (mere mortals) absorb it with such joy, process it with our own life experiences, and radiate the magic right back to each other and the Universe. That's the beauty and gift of Adam Lambert. In searching for his original high, he has lead us to rediscover our own. I'm happy to "be" with each of you today.
May the blessings of light be on you. Light without and light within.
Even me? Who you seem to be very put out by.... No need for snark. Go enjoy yourself. Why let a different opinion sway your emotions? I certainly am not going to take what I assume to be your pointed jabs at a "legendary" frontman of an "iconic" band and subtly lash out about it. I can only guess that by using the quotes, you don't think Queen is iconic or that Freddie's legendary. No skin off my nose. I'll just let your opinion speak for itself and put on A Night At The Opera But seriously...have a great day flailing and dancing to The Original High! I'm glad it's all you dreamed of! That sounds dirty.....I like it Haha, I like the way your mind works, sweetheart... Takes one to know one

I am! Still here rattling cages I guess! I too hope he's successful. He's a genuinely likable guy, with a great voice. As for him wanting to a pop star...I know I never implied otherwise. I also have never said/implied he should do something he doesn't want to do. He has every right to chase the pop ring More power to him! And likewise, I have every right to wish he went a different direction. He ain't losin' sleep I'm sure and neither am I...Just simple personal preferences. I do like to think I am a good representation of the open minded Queen fan who would come to check out TOH after seeing him in QAL so I'll be interested to see how many of them pre-order/buy. Of course putting Brian on a track is a shrewd way to make certain the obsessive side of Queen collectors buy it I'm not canceling my preorder or anything I hope he does well enough for you guys to get a solo tour.... Rattle away, sweetheart, it's good for those who can't take other people have differing opinions to their own to be rubbed up against from time to time... That sounds dirty.....I like it
