Glad to see you all get your fix I streamed the album and my initial thoughts: All in all - Max did a good job at least solidifying a sound. It's hard for me to review this as anything negative I have to say about it comes from my lack of interest in this type of music overall. I'm not the demo he's looking to score with. I still hope that he does an album with Queen one day because I think it could work VERY well. I like it better than Trespassing for certain. I still think I like FYE better overall but that could change with a few listens. Talon - if you're out there, you've said a lot of what I thought, only better. Really like several of the tracks, will buy the album (deluxe because I wonder what the extras are like), but my appreciation for pop music is limited. Have a few single pop song purchases on my iPod, but Adam's albums are the only full ones I own. That being said, I hope he really hits the big time with this one. He deserves it, and I want to see where he goes next. I am! Still here rattling cages I guess! I too hope he's successful. He's a genuinely likable guy, with a great voice. As for him wanting to a pop star...I know I never implied otherwise. I also have never said/implied he should do something he doesn't want to do. He has every right to chase the pop ring More power to him! And likewise, I have every right to wish he went a different direction. He ain't losin' sleep I'm sure and neither am I...Just simple personal preferences. I do like to think I am a good representation of the open minded Queen fan who would come to check out TOH after seeing him in QAL so I'll be interested to see how many of them pre-order/buy. Of course putting Brian on a track is a shrewd way to make certain the obsessive side of Queen collectors buy it I'm not canceling my preorder or anything I hope he does well enough for you guys to get a solo tour....

Ok good! I thought that was how I was coming off! Glad to see I was! I'm probably not going to stream it again and I'll just wait for my order to come in. I'll listen again at that point and see how my view point changes.....

Just popping back in - I certainly wasn't here to rain on anyone's parade. In fact I had to go back and re-read my mini first thoughts. It wasn't a negative review at all. It's an album that most of you will love and that radio/top 40 should like But an old school rock and roll fan generally is not going to be picking this up to play. That's not a bad thing at all. There are plenty of successful artists throughout time that I respect that I wouldn't pick out to play because it's not the genre of music I enjoy and that's fine. Hell, even WITHIN the rock genre there's artists I don't really pick up to play that I respect. I respect the hell out of Black Sabbath (including one of Brian's best friends Tony Iommi) and I can listen to a few songs, but I don't own any of their albums. I respect Adam quite a bit - Personally and selfishly I want him to do a more full out rock and roll / glam rock album -- or even a theatrical piece (as I enjoy that too...which is why I'm one of the more minority of Queen fans that appreciate Brian/Kerry). Just my preference. But that's not to say he can't do a well crafted pop album - which I think TOH is. So no raining. I was trying to be positive! Sorry I failed in that

Glad to see you all get your fix I streamed the album and my initial thoughts: Ghost Town - As before - still a grower. I bop along to it (never will LOVE the disco cowboy stuff though) - another note by 11 year old daughter (not the same one I talked about previously) asked ME if I heard the new Adam Lambert song Ghost Town. I said yes, have you? She said she had heard it on the radio. I asked a lot? She said...Not a LOT a LOT but a few times. She likes it. The Original High - Totally not my cuppa. Adam loves this stuff and so does his fans and it's a very competent good track - successful at what it is shooting for so there's that Another Lonely Night - My favorite of the previously "leaked" stuff. Love it except the moo. Sorry, I know some find it endearing but I hate it. It reminds me of a couple of things Queen did that made great tracks less listenable (the screeching feedback in the middle of Sheer Heart Attack and the record scratching on Calling All Girls for example) but it is a great track. Underground - well sung, not something I'd put on repeat but decent enough. There I Said It - This is what Adam does best. He should really do a ballad album if I'm honest. This is a great track (the "grown ass man" seems a bit out of place if I'm honest but the rest works REALLY well) My second favorite on the album. Rumors - Like Underground- it's a decent track but not something I was wowed with. Evil In The Night - This one has grown on me since it "leaked". This has got some great funky guitar parts and it's pretty groovin' I would say this is what he wanted the stuff on Trespassing to sound like but didn't have the necessary ingredients. Lucy - Oh yeah definitely unsurprisingly my favorite. It just proves to me what great musicians backing a great vocalist can do. What I mean by that is that song in and of itself isn't heads above other tracks on the album, but having Adam sing it and then have a guitarist like Brian wailing behind it it just makes the track stand out. The very beginning does sound Dirty Dianish.... Things I Didn't Say - Now I know it hurts itself for me to have to listen to this after Lucy but it does validate my point. This is the "coldest" track so far - the most like Trespassing, the most computerized track of the album thus far. To be fair the consistency of production does help keep it above water so to speak. It does have some great Adam vocals towards the ending.... The Light - Better. A stripped back track works better with the electronics. Heavy Fire - Another decent ballad Not quite There I Said It, but it has a kind of slow burn to it that I dig All in all - Max did a good job at least solidifying a sound.

Brian is set to make a guest appearance on the upcoming Motorhead album, Bad Magic on a song called The Devil. Brian will drop a solo over some usually thunderous heavy metal, I'm sure! Motorhead New Album Release

Brian and Kerry played in Verona on June 1st as part of an opening of the Opera season in Verona. Along with Italian singer Vittorio Grigolo, they played Who Wants To Live Forever/Brian talked about Freddie/No-One But You/Somebody To Love/We Will Rock You/Bohemian Rhapsody
The playlist above shows most of it - No-One But You is missing and Somebody To Love is the second half of the song.

So on June 1st, Brian and Kerry will be playing a gig in Verona with an orchestra - It's being advertised as Queen hits so we'll have to see. It was kind of hard to understand whether this was a full gig or a shortened gig. They are not the only act on the bill so I assume it's a shortened gig but it could be cool. It didn't say it was an acoustic gig, so I assume it's Brian electric again. Also Rufus was interviewed in a German magazine. The translation was rough but Rufus is definitely continuing with QAL (happy to hear) - and it seemed to say another US tour was possible....

I'll answer this question and the other question you posted in the numbers thread Another question has Brian's red soecial ever been repaired?? Not including string replacement? I'm thinking possible cracks on frame. How did his dad know the basics? When his father built this guitar. Did he use a model? Isn't it unusual for a individual to build a guitar? Was his father a master carpenter? Again. Knowing the quality of the red, do you know if he was ever approached in early days to produce guitars for other musicians ? I'm just in awe of the master ship of the guitar since I believe both were novices just curious Yes it has been repaired a few times here and there including being totally restored in 1998 - A GREAT article about the restorationIf you are REALLY interested in it: AMAZING BOOKThis is an official book co-written with Brian all about the guitar, how it was built, etc. And it is full of anecdotes. It should have been a bit of a dry read but it really ends up being spectacular. BUT yes there were some things they based it on but they also went on their own a bit so Brian could have exactly what he wanted. He was not as far as I know approached early on but much later he did open up his own line including some interesting variations (like the double necked guitar he used during the first QAL tour as well as the Red Special bass, etc.) It is a phenomenal accomplishment for the two May men who were indeed novices...just brilliant ones! ^ I think the Amazon ones are because if you pre-ordered his album today (or yesterday) were the days the additional tracks were "purchased" and sent out to pre-orders. A question re Queen i was revisiting yt's. Has there ever been a cancellation of a tour concert w Brian or roger? Do they have a stand in. Just ?? As these two gents are getting up in age. I know they have 6 more concerts. But supposedly if one was unable to go on. I think Rufus might fill in but what about a guitarist? I know cancellation due to Adam. But w Adam. Possibly the show would go on. I just wonder as I see the shows so very taxing on both as the sr years are creeping up. At various times I see Brian shaking his handing' stretching them so to speak and of ourse Roger looks at times as if he 's gone thru the wringer i so want more concerts w queen but more so. Do write new songs etc. it has to be so taxing on the two. So I want another tour incorporating the old w the new. #entitledfan Oops. Posted on wrong thread. Sorry. Do you mean post Freddie have Brian or Roger ever cancelled a gig due to illness or what not? During Freddie's days they had to cancel a few times for Fred and early on in the band's career when Brian got hepatitis they had to cancel a bunch of gigs. POST Freddie? I can't remember any gig cancelled/rescheduled due to illness, etc from Brian or Roger. There was a terrorist attack in London which forced a Hyde Park gig to be rescheduled. I know that when bassist for QPR Danny Miranda was hospitalized for a few days, the show went on with Neil Murray (who has close connections with Brian). Finally there are rumors that the band had Jeff Scott Soto on standby in case Paul split during the last QPR tour. Mostly though when Paul had vocal problems in the beginning of the 2005 tour, they rejiggered the set just a bit - They dropped Paul's solo bit - Brian and Roger both picked up a few tracks - Brian sang I Want It All, Roger sang the hard rock section of Hammer To Fall, etc. I'll be honest that if any of the 3 had to sit out, they'd probably cancel the gig. I also would think (and this may be an unpopular opinion here but I think the most likely person to be replaced would be Adam - I mean it's mainly a Queen gig, Queen catalogue, etc. It IS Queen + Adam - but since it really is a Queen show with Adam singing...and it's already a bit of stretch calling 1/2 of Queen Queen - if B or R sat out it's really a solo gig with Adam singing. BUT most likely I think they are equal enough that they'd cancel if any of the 3 big guns were ill.
