:D glad you found it! Oh I think Elaine is a wonderful singer. Her Queen covers are definitely borne out of love - she was friends with the band (including Freddie) and they certainly are well crafted. I was a theater major myself and enjoy all sorts. BUT I prefer a more rocking voice on Queen. But these are definitely valid covers!

My Melancholy Blues
Played through 1978, it is a great little jazzy piano number from Freddie. Not covered much over the years although I always thought Billy Joel could have done a wonder with this track...
Elaine Page did cover it on her Queen cover album (and subsequent tour)
Not a bad version - again a bit too theatrical for me...but she wins!

I'm listening to my local AM radio, a Clear Channel affiliate, at the moment. They just played a corporate commercial for iHeartRadio. The beginning of the commercial had a quick mash-up of maybe 5 songs. The first song in the sequence was the opening 5 notes of Ghost Town's whistle chorus. What a surprise that was to hear so unexpectedly! I'd think the commercial spot must have been recorded prior to the release of Ghost Town, so iHeartRadio had an early commitment to giving the song exposure. Thank you, WBR!
Another thought on the Brian May twitter teases about Adam vis a vis Elvis. Brian has an unreleased cover version of a song that was a big hit for Elvis in 1961 - #1 in the UK and #4 in the US. Brian recorded this version 8 years ago, though he never released it.
Maybe Brian's thinking of releasing the track with Adam singing the vocals. Or maybe not. Oh!! Wow!! That's great iHeart is using GT beginning whistle as one of about five songs in their mash up!! Thanks for this Brian cover video. I remember that Elvis song. I enjoyed Brian's cover. Talon have you seen this Brian video? I have and posted it Talon's EntryBut thanks for looking out for me :D Always appreciated! I remember when this leaked - Brian was pissed because it wasn't finished. It was one of the last recordings he made with Cozy Powell. I always thought it was fun...I wouldn't be surprised to see Brian try to complete it with Adam for something....

Nothin from Who Needs You so we move on to: It's Late
Talon Entry
One of my fav Queen songs, it was done live in the 70s but never made it past unfortunately. Not covered many times but it was for a tribute album by what basically was heavy metal band Anthrax. (Or at least a few members of...) A sloppy rendition - nothing great, but I don't think they intended for it to be great...I think it sounds like they just had some fun, didn't really rehearse and just went for it. They win by default...

He said a "small storm." Something is up!! Hmmmm I think so. Seems like it is a puzzle hidden in his tweets related to Adam and Elvis that would cause a storm. The storm would not be Adam fans because they are game for most anything. So that leave Queen fans. I really think they could be thinking about adding JHR to the South American setlist. That would cause a bit of commotion -- and also be so like Brian and Roger to go back to a song they played at RiR 30 years ago and a song that goes back to the early days of Queen. JHR is def a "Freddie" song -- it would stir a few die hard fans up if they did it without him. Speaking as a die-hard - I don't think them doing JHR would cause any more stirs than normal. While they covered it with Freddie a TON, it's still a cover song so I may be wrong, but I think this would pass over without too much consternation... As for what Brian could be referring to? I can't tell yet at all which is strange. Doing JHR doesn't strike me as something to cause a storm. I don't think it involves Lucy. Perhaps they will record an Elvis cover for something? I don't know...but it is intriguing....

Further thoughts...if it *IS* released as a single, perhaps a Brian mix of the song as a b-side or bonus track That might be a nice thought also :D

Sure I'm happy for it! BUT I'm not going to get TOO too excited. I'm inclined to believe this is more of a Brian whore-out moment (and I mean that with all respect and love - it's just what I call it...) Let me explain. There's collaboration where Brian will sit down and co-create something with someone...some of the stuff with Kerry, with Paul, and others. And then there is the whore-out moments. The times where a song is done and Brian is called in like a gunslinger to throw a solo down over an existing song. Nothing wrong with that and it can still be an absolute blast, but it's not usually something that will stick with me for the long haul....does that make sense? I'd much rather see Adam and Brian (and Roger for that matter) go into a studio and create something together. BUT it doesn't mean I won't play the heck out of Lucy most likely...since I do dig Adam's voice so it's a lot of win still! Every once in a while a Brian whore out moment will stick with me like this one...I might be the only Queen fan who loved this but guilty pleasure or not... A song not in Brian's usual genre wheelhouse that he throws a nice guitar bit over the top. THIS is what I expect from Lucy. A song not in Brian's usual genre wheelhouse with an emotive solo over the top. What do I HOPE for? I hope for a ballad...a nice piano based rock ballad that Brian can orchestrate a nice guitar bit for. We'll see in about 2 months!

Happy that everyone is loving new music Not one for purchasing a lot of music nowadays, I made an exception and pre-ordered the album to show my support. Of course Brian being on a track is a definite bonus for me! I've also bought and played Ghost Town a few times. My 11 year old daughter seems to like it! My wife was more "meh". Those are the two reviews from the two in my house who listen to Current Top 40 stuff. My own review? Given that this is far from my cuppa, its not bad at all! I found the production much warmer and despite some effects felt that Adam's voice wasn't buried. A step up from Trespassing in terms of sound and production. It really to me is a tale of two songs. The good which was Adam's voice with the acoustic guitar and the bridge and the meh whistling cowboy disco.... It's not really my thing, but more power to Adam and those who love it
