I've been watching QAL vid's… a couple of questions I've notice a camera man constantly recording the shows. I've seen one filming Roger only. Another vid, I've notice one filming Brian. I do see the camera filming Adam at times. Never noticed cameras for both Roger and Brian at the same venue. Any reason for this??? archives but why specifically focused on just one artist? just curious aids ( Does Spike and Neil wear hearing (not sure that's the right term) to hear the music. I know Brian doesn't but with the instruments so loud, I would think they might to hear the beat as Adam does. Cassie, or anyone…..I watched SOMEBODY TO LOVE in Toronto July 13, 2014 last night. DId anyone catch that he held that note almost 22 secs?? Is that the longest note??? AI he held a note but wasn't that for 13 or 14 secs? Also noted Brian gave a call out to Adam after that song. I don't recall other shows Brian praising other than the "what do you think of our new guy" etc. Well anyway, Toronto was great I think they have cameras focused on each artist indivdually (at least the big 3) so that at any moment they can switch the feed to one of them. Then they have a rover or two for the rest or for different angles. And also in case B or R wanted to see something back for whatever reason later on...always improving. During the downtime...I just stumbled across this...it appears legit. I've never heard of Omnivore but there is a Hollywood Records imprint as well. If anyone ever wanted to check out Roger's solo stuff but The Lot box set was too much it appears that there will be a North American compilation entitled: BEST coming out Oct 28th. Not sure if it's order only or it will be in stores but I'll get it (cause I collect ) Preorder from Omnivore's Website

I know many of the behind the scenes team (the Archivist for one) have been pushing them to release something from the 70s FOREVER. For whatever reason other projects came up, and they were shelved. A different concert (Hammersmith 1975) was talked about while QAL was in Hammersmith in 2012 but again disappeared for unknown reasons. BUT Queen also likes anniversaries now and 2014 being the 40th anniversary of these shows, I'm betting the behind the scenes team were able to put the right argument together that now was the time! Thanking them profusely! Regarding the timing, Queen signed a new contract with UMG in December 2013. This is the first of several releases. Why start with the Rainbow 1974 concert? Maybe because it is really great, and it allows them to do Hammersmith Live 1975 next year. Or perhaps they picked it because it is the one that I wanted most! ETA: Also as Talon wrote above, Queen has always liked anniversaries. And I think that they timed the release date to be immediately after Freddie's birthday. Oh there's no doubt to that either. Every year there is something released around Freddie's birthday.

I am partway thru and it is great so far! I can't believe they had this sitting around for 40 years> Whose idea was it to release it now? Whoever it is, they are brilliant! It's a total smash. I try to keep the purely Queen things in the Queen thread but I know a number of you have preordered Live at the Rainbow 74....Mine shipped today (I got the deluxe set) but then I realized that I could get the discs on Autorip from Amazon........Well I couldn't wait. I'm almost done with Disc 1...March 1974 gig. I am in love. Just in love. The best Queen release since 1995. Just wow. White Queen...ahhhhhhhh....Great King Rat, Jailhouse Rock...just so good and a band at their rawest and hungriest. Just so good. Ok continue Ok, does this mean I should now take the Live at the Rainbow set OUT of my "save for later" amazon shopping cart and actually finish purchasing the thing?

No prob The 70s they were at their absolute genre hopping peak. The 80s poppier era was less genre shifting as a whole per album but it was still there a bit

I would disagree on that at least in terms of the early albums. Look at A Night At The Opera.
Blistering rock - Sweet Lady, Death On Two Legs
Soft pop - You're My Best Friend
Folk (almost country) - '39
Tender ballad - Love Of My Life
Prog Rock - Prophet's Song
Opera Rock - BoRhap
Vaudeville Type Dancehall - Lazing On A Sunday Afternoon/Seaside Rendezvous
