Oh Queen was very rarely received well by critics. It was more of a hindsight thing to be honest. Perhaps the same thing will happen with Adam...although honestly I thought Trespassing got good reviews, just didn't sell (after the first week). Maybe the public will have a hindsight view later on...

So I had a 40+ minute drive with my kids yesterday. Something I'd been starting to do is introduce them to my music. They are pretty good about it. They appreciate my music quite a bit and still can like some of their own of todays. They are decent Queen fans of course. I started by doing the whole Queen Anthology with them (my own)...and now after I completed that I've decided to go through all my music with them A-Z (during car rides). I only handpick tracks out of the discography so it's kind of a greatest hits selection. Otherwise they'll be grandparents by the time we're finished Now my folders are by first name. So we started with AC/DC and my eldest is a real hard rocker at heart and she loved them. BUT anyways - how it fits here is that yesterday we started (and nearly finished) Adam. I basically chose a few pre-Idol/Idol tracks and then went onto FYE (and we got through all of FYE and part of Trespassing - we finish the next time all 3 of them in the car with me...). My daughters have always like WYWFM and my eldest always thought Adam was "fabulous" (her words for very camp stars - She loves that). And they enjoyed him with Queen. Their reaction - my eldest enjoyed FYE more than Trespassing (she somewhat takes after me I think ), while my younger daughter loved Kickin' In. BUT what I wanted to mention is a reason I believe Adam struggles to find his niche. He has a great voice - of that there is no doubt. He just hasn't found his sound. Now you can tell me he can't be pigeon holed, etc. and he likes jumping from genre to genre like Queen did. BUT the slight/subtle but meaningful difference is that while Queen genre hopped, they always had a Queen sound to it. Adam though doesn't have a defined sound. I think it has to do with just taking songs from different songwriters and then using different producers. Like FYE, which I like a lot of it just sounds like a phenomenal voice doing a poor man's Darkness with Music Again, a poor man's Muse with Soaked, a poor man's Bruno Mars with Never Close Your Eyes...so it never really comes across as his own. It makes it almost an extension of a covers album...if that makes sense. Maybe I'm just rambling, but I'm trying to capture my feelings after listening to some QAL (minus the Q) All in all, I still enjoyed FYE far more than Trespassing so we'll have to see.

I would not underestimate the complexity of the Michael Jackson estate. It is not neatly managed like some -- including Freddie's. There are executors' for the estate (and their legion of lawyers), there are Katherine Jackson's attorneys, there are other attorneys who represent TJ Jackson co-guardian of Michael's Jackson's 3 children, and there are more parties. I was surprised to read that after talking about releasing these duets for years, then talking about a release for Holiday 2014, Roger said it was not settled. Agreed that it's tough - it just sounds a bit more positive than it had previously. From some of my inside sources, it's not settled, but traction has been gained. Yeah I don't see that happening if I'm to be honest. What gets me is it kind of depends. Love Kills was originally a Queen song. BEFORE it went to become a Freddie solo track. And in actuality from all reports Roger's programmed drums and some of Brian's work appear on the final Freddie solo version so it's a bit different from just reworking a Freddie solo release...it intially was going to be a Queen track. NOW was it initially a ballad like the rearrangement or are they just taking the disco vocal take and shoehorning it into a new ballad arrangement. The latter is unfortunately probably the case so it's a bit less exciting. Now if they have an alternate ballad vocal take from the vaults, that might be something else! I'd rather them do all new stuff or at least stuff that hasn't been leaked. It'd be weird to have Adam complete vocals on a song I know about and have heard Freddie on... WEEEELLLLL yes and no. See below: Michael Jackson and Freddie Mercury duets set for release August 2013 -- report about the duets There is also a possible (highly unconfirmed) fourth (rarely mentioned by Peter Freestone) Reportedly it's crap What hasn't been leaked and after a quick search I can't find the report but before Michael died Michael was spotted going into a studio with Brian and Roger, spent some time there and then left. It was unclear what was done or what was going on...but this was all with regards to the duets reportedly. So they have Freddie's take, and maybe they had additional ideas from Michael. *shrug* who knows...

LOL! I did forget that... I'd slide it in around the beginning of the European tour...somewhere around January 2015. I mean I could be wrong, but I think they wouldn't want to release Queen Forever and the QAL DVD/CD TOO close to each other...at least a month apart.. It would be hard to get the Q+AL Tour DVD done for Holiday 2014, particularly because Adam needs to sign off on it. We waited months for Glam Nation Live while Adam reviewed and revised it. GNL was shot in Indianapolis, Indiana at Clowes Hall on August 31st, 2010, it was released almost 7 months later on March 22, 2011. (Adam's Acoustic Live also took a long time to be finalized and released.) My guess is that Q+AL Live DVD will not be released until later -- maybe March 2015. That puts it between Queen Forever (Holiday 2014) and A3's probable release. It also gives Adam time to review it after he has locked down A3. >> I wonder what they will do with Queen Forever if they cannot get Michael Jackson's estate to sign off on the duet tracks? I think they need those two tracks for this album to matter. Personally, I could pass on these duets -- unless they have something that is much better than the demos on YouTube. I would love a few simple ballads with just Freddie on them instead. She dreams! It might be a bit later...The holiday is quite optimistic from me to be honest. Sometimes Queen is quick, other times not so much. I know for QPR they recorded on May 9, 2005 and it was released in October 5 months later....Feb would probably be the earliest. I miscounted months when I did it quickly As for Queen Forever..not sure what they will do. I think they kind of painted themselves into a corner by talking to the press about them. If they were to release it without the duets, it would be bad press. *shrug* I have to admit, I'm far more interested in the non-duets myself...

^ Well like I said, it's a dream :D
I think QP-MJ estate will work something out - QP will get one track, MJ estates will get one track and the rest will be forgotten.
As for the album/second world tour I think some of it depends on A3. I think if A3 tanks, than a QAL album is more likely. If A3 is a smash - less likely. It also would depend on what Adam wants to do. If it tanks and he still wants to be a musician QAL becomes a more welcome outlet
I think a second tour will ONLY happen if there is a QAL album.
If not then Q3 is right and it would be special one-offs only.

Wait a minute, where in Talon's dream timeline is the DVD/CD release for this QAL tour? LOL! I did forget that... I'd slide it in around the beginning of the European tour...somewhere around January 2015. I mean I could be wrong, but I think they wouldn't want to release Queen Forever and the QAL DVD/CD TOO close to each other...at least a month apart..

I really would love to see B&R work on solo stuff too but they aren't as young as they used to be I'm still waiting on Brian's "Mama and Papa" album- I always loved his songs with those references... "Papa's in a jam, Mama's throwin' pans." LOL!!! Me too! I wish he would make a true solo album. He seems to think he can't - that's why he hooked up with Kerry Ellis. But I would love to see him unearth those Mama-Papa songs...."Mama's making heat to keep the old fire smokin, while Papa's hangin' on to his old...Love Token" :D

Thanks! I'll...be around after QAL ends. I probably won't be as prolific though cause I won't have much to say! I'll definitely give A3 a spin when it comes out and I definitely will listen to the music and talk about it though I appreciate the sentiments though truly

I feel very excited for you guys. I know you guys really want A3. While not as excited as you, I do look forward to see how A3 is approached. I'm hoping Adam really used his time with Queen to help shape a more organic (less computery) approach. I am somewhat excited for Queen this year. Queen gets Rainbow 74 which I think will be a blast. Queen Forever - if it's this year...Well I was a bit more excited when the possibility existed that it might be an all new album...now it appears to be another compilation -- BUT at least it should have 3-4 tracks that *DOES* make me excited....Love Kills, Let Me In (Your Heart Again) and I'm betting one out of 2 FM-MJ tracks...probably There Must Be More To Life Than This. Brian is going to be at the Starmus Festival and both Brian and Roger have film soundtracks coming out... Queen film? But it's definitely far more vague. I do think QAL will rise again and in fact if I had my choices... GAMEPLANQAL ENDS- Sept - Rainbow Released, Queen promote
Sept - Dec - Adam works on A3 and mostly finishes it. - Dec - Queen Forever Released, Queen promote
2015- Feb-Mar - QAL Tours Europe/UK possibly including performing new A3 single which is released around the same time and Love Kills back in setlist to promote Queen Forever
- April - A3 released, promotion
- Spring - Fall - A3 tour while Queen begins barebones work/writing/jamming for new QAL album
- Fall/Winter post A3 tour - QAL work on new album.
2016- Spring - QAL Album
- Summer - QAL world tour?
Either way, I just hope B&R don't retire....for a while. As they get older I hope they make as much music as they can! I really would love to see B&R work on solo stuff too but they aren't as young as they used to be

I don't think the right bottom picture's Freddie's. I don't remember his hair that high and the picture doesn't look like Freddie.
Bottom right looks like some kind of Avatar not a photo at all... is their a queen computer game? There was one way back in 1998 called The Eye. Awful game. Great music though. It even gave Queen fans a thrill with 4 cds of instrumental remixes. It was pretty cool. I'm not sure that's from the game though - but it ain't Freddie. It looks like a mockup of what Freddie wore during his Living On My Own video: Freddie recorded his own party where everyone BUT him is in drag. Also the source of the Brian as a witch pic
