Okay, back from yesterday's thread.
If, like me, you were unable to come to Atop yesterday, please go read last night's thread. Run, don't walk.
This place is..... just IS. [That probably makes no sense, but yeah.]

I love "Lust & Leather" for A tour name! Will you elaborate on the concept? Sundays on Adamtopia are the best. Thanks Q3 and NoAngel for your ever entertaining essays. I love it too! Lust and Leather FTW! Me three!!

I think one of the reasons that Adam is stating that he will be less camp is that his experience with FYE showed that too many people just don't truly "get" camp right now. I think in reality that there will still be camp but it will not be the focus as much and will not get in the way for those who don't "get it" but will still be there for those of us who do. My best analogy for this is the way the best animated children's movies have innuendo and humor that the adults will "get" but will go right over the heads of the kids so that the adults aren't bored to tears taking the little kiddies to the movies. If you watch the development of the camp in his performances you see that in the early ones like Gridlock, Kradison, and Fantasy Springs and even to some extent the two Canadian casino shows the camp was more in your face and pronounced. By the time he started GNT the camp was still there but a little less out front and more song specific. Even the costuming reflected that with the opening being very campy gradually stripped away for the acoustic set then coming back with that outrageous circus barker coat and then again being somewhat stripped away when that coat comes off. Adam does camp so well and so naturally that I don't think it would ever be completely gone but I think he is angling for it to not be the first thing people notice partly because it is often used as a way to dismiss gay artists in mainstream culture. As we said earlier camp does not equal gay any more than flamboyant does but they are both often used as a point to discredit or marginalize gay artists even though a straight artist using the same techniques gets praise. This is very interesting and insightful. Now I'm off to go read yesterday's thread as it seems (from some of the comments this morning) that this was a topic of discussion.

Wow, Q3. Just wow to your entire campventure! I did not know Freddy covered the Pretender - loved it. I'm also a big lover of Pulp Fiction and I consider the Kill Bill series to be campy as well. What a great Sunday post - well done, Ladies!!

Great story! I need to get out more. I just had a really horrible thought. I hope the mother of the kid I drove isn't a big enough fan to be on here. What an awful way to find out your kid is a nude model in his spare time. Really didn't mean to out him!!!!!! I hope that is not the case, savvy. But gosh, that is such a fantastic tale!!! Thanks for sharing. The one-glambulge-at-a-time line had me guffawing. ;D ;D ;D

SPRING FORWARD TONIGHT ALMOST EVERYONE OMG, I meant to look that up today cause I heard it was earlier than it used to be...oh, noes, I don't want to lose an hour! I take it that means Central time DOES change tonight, right? Thanks so much for the kind words everyone. Roger thought that was a "throwaway" poem (his published poems are much "deeper") but even though he'd say that one "ain't that deep" it's deep to me. Without friendship and good memories, there'd be no point. I liked it, too. Thx
