One of my treasures - the rare occasion Adam sings without the mic. Who needs tech & tricks when he does all those special effects with his voice. I would want to hear Adam in one of those Italian palaces, cathedrals, opera houses build by special design to amplify the voice. He'd be one of those singers who would make the stained glass shake Love hearing Adam without a mic. Here is another example. There is a mic in front of him, but he explains earlier in the video that it is for recording for radio, but there are no speakers connected for the live performance. youtu.be/5t_UziTMk2Y?t=4m4s

One of the sounds I love is when Adam seems to "float" his voice and I love it when he sings just with a guitar and just his pure voice.....thank you Cassie and Angelina and others that have the knowledge to explain how truly gifted Adam is

And this interview and acoustic performance is a gem. Shows his natural voice, his humor, his wit. youtu.be/DR6ISamAQ8M

I have another question, cassie, if we can be allowed two. I saw Adam in Orange County many years ago. I am very impressed at the way his voice can fill an indoor venue. But this was an outdoor amphitheater. His voice was so magical, so more than up to the task of filling that amphitheater and beyond. It was stunning, to me, that his voice could fill that endless open space. And do so fully, deeply, richly. Amazing.
How does he get so much controlled volume, so much resonance, so much projection? I know the sound is amplified, but it is still so much more than I hear with other singers. ANd I understand that there can be mechanical reasons, the basic anatomy, but on top of that, what is the explanation.
Thanks, cassie.
It occurs to me that these might seem like pretty basic questions to you two, so I appreciate your patience and explaining skills!

What I find interesting cassie is that Adam's speaking voice is quite similar to what it was 10 years ago. When you hear him in interviews from back then and you hear him now you immediately hear that it's the same guy and it really sounds alike.
When he sings however you can truly hear that his voice matured. The best example is with the Queen songs I guess although I think that also is a matter of making those songs his own. He now completely owns those songs. We all are still stunned about what he can do singing wise and I wonder why there seems to be a difference between speaking voice and singing voice.

Don't worry about questions being "basic." I want these videos to appeal to Adam fans and potential fans who do not necessarily know anything about singing.

cassie Thank you so much! I had them somewhere but I changed windows etc and I forget where they are. Gonna make the map " Adam without mic" to be able to find them quickly. Part of the reason I love being at the barrier beside the posibility of eye-contact is because one can hear Adam without mic. Even the camera catches it. Sometimes I miss the times when not every theater, opera or even church had speakers. Its rare now and part of me hates it cause speakers allow people to talk during songs. Try to that in a cathedral without speakers...if one talks too loud everyone will be mad. Seen that in a few places unequiped with speakers. When the choire sang one could not talk beacause of echo.

Audio Game - Day 2 Song: Who Wants To Live ForeverPlease give the following feedback in the thread: 1) Which version do you like best & 2nd best? And why? 2) Which format did you listen to, FLAC, M4A, or MP3? 3) Did you listen on a PC or on a Smartphone? 4) Did you listen using speakers, headphones or earbuds? If speakers, was it the speaker on the PC or a better speaker? If you want to guess which recording is mine, Nick's, or the mix, please send that to me in a PM. I'd like to get everyone's reaction to the recordings before saying which recording is which. 1) Resounding vote for C. Can't pick between A and B for second place. I'm rubbish at explaining why, just know what moves me the most. 2) M4A 3) iMac 4) Built-in speakers

Thanks for your voice questions. Keep em coming! And since it is a very slow news cycle, I was revisiting old interviews looking for examples of singing without a mic and remembered a great interview from the Coca Cola lounge when he was promoting his second album. The radio station used to have it on their website, but it has disappeared. I found a fan video of the appearance. Poor video quality, but still fun to watch. I was able to download it from Adam Lambert Media. I hope it is okay that I loaded it to YouTube as an unlisted file (so, don't post the link publicly, please), so y'all could view it. If that is not okay, I will take it down, and just post the link to download it, but I know some of you don't want to or can't download big files like this. youtu.be/9ok0XqU3el0
