If he didn't apologize for scandalizing people at the AMAs, yuk, yuk, why would he even consider apologizing for an OPINION that wasn't cruel or premeditated, simply an opinion. Nobody cares that I will tell anyone who will listen that I hate Casey and wish they hadn't saved him the first time. And it will really hurt my feelings - on my birthday, no less - if you tell me my opinons don't count as much as Adam's. I'm very sensitive, you know. Happy Birthday Aspen.. since I don't want your feelings hurt on your Birthday.. I will just have to "blow smoke up you a**" how about that.. JK... but I am going to agree with what you said anyway... Adam was very generous with his praise as well as being rather gentle with suggestions.... *don;'t get why there is even a problem* I have more to say about it.. but, I am feeling "the horse has died" now.. LOL Just popping for a short bit, so am not all caught up on the conversation, but on the "dead horse" issue I want to add a comment. (Apologies if this has already been said 100 times...) I think the fuss and bother comes from the "over it" phrase. When he says it in the interview it appears it is in answer to a question one can't really hear, then he makes comments about JD. The written version of the interview does not print the question the "over it" comment was answering either, so it does not come across well and people keep making negative assumptions. Just a plain old communications mess. peace&love

I only post now and again, but have to say I'm glad to see needacoke and bamafan are OK. Hope justwishin and any others from the tornado area are OK as well. Also, hope they can check in soon with Atop or friends who can pass the word along.
I know that checking in with everyone, finding out that people are OK, is one of the primary needs after a big disaster. My experience with such things was a while ago - we live three-quarters of a mile from the epicenter of the Loma Prieta earthquake. Our whole road was a "red zone" = worst damage. My thoughts are with all those who had tornado or flooding damage.
On the Adam front, how amazing is it that he can generate so much press by changing his hair/facial hair? Glad he gets to have the fun of changing his looks when the mood strikes him. My hair won't cooperate with such whims! (Then again, I'm not willing to put that much product, spray, and effort into it!) This particular look of Adam's makes me think of Dr. Strange (Marvel comics) - looking mysterious while fighting evil through the use of paranormal and magical powers!

Second-hand fame can get to a person. My husband's grandfather (who passed away shortly before husband went to college) was extremely well known in academia. When husby went to college, professors would recognize the last name and immediately, sometimes in a class, mention that his grandfather was on his PhD committee, how amazing he had been, oh, and was my husband (then boyfriend) going to go into the same field - and on and on. There were times when it was rather overwhelming and made him feel that he, himself, wasn't of interest to the professor, just the fame connection was of interest. He routinely dropped any class where the professor did this, because it made him uncomfortable. Also dropped classes where books written by grandfather were required reading. Dropping classes and changing schedules did create a few class requirement/credit/scheduling challenges!
Even now, and college was a long time ago, we meet people who get all fanboy/girl about the grandfather and want to talk about nothing else. A little is OK, but, really sometimes it is way over the top. If that is all they are interested in perhaps I can suggest they read a biography~ And sometimes we would get phone calls from strangers wanting information or some question answered! That could be a bit creepy.
I can't imagine having social media magnify this 100 times! or 1000 times!! Poor Brad must have gotten many "why did you break his heart?" and "I 'd love to see you back together, I'm picturing the two of you $%!&$#@ing now!" messages. Ugh! My husband having to deal with bright, educated people being crazy fans made one want to crab and complain sometimes, and could cause sort of an overall down feeling at times. But to have people kind of (or actually) invade one's privacy, write fanfic, send photos, send altered photos, demand, pry, etc!! OMG, even if one tuned out most of it, Yikes! Not fun, not funny, not self-affirming, not uplifting. Brad's actually handled it all very well, as far as we know. Apparently it does get to him sometimes, though... Oh, and imagine how any current sweetheart might feel knowing about, or seeing, what crazy-serious shippers have to say about Cheeks and Adam getting back together!
OK, enough rant. Cheeks' essay brought back some ~feelings~ about second hand fame, I guess. Apologies for going on about it

Oh, yes! Thank you for the reminders! I was thinking that there was another EU show in addition to Amsterdam, but could not remember which one! .. and kittykay, I will have to find out if she can handle Amsterdam... she was asking me if "the blond person he kissed" was a woman ;D ..Tommy's long hair confused her ;D So, I had to explain about Tommy and remind her that it was the same person as at the AMAs... she kinda giggled... :D Lupo's (Prov RI) with the tongue diving is pretty darned fun as well

Ive been thinking all morning of how great it is to have supportive families and feeling glad for Adam that he has his family and his creative LA family to work with and to keep him grounded. My youngest son just finished making a movie, and now my oldest is scoring the movie. It is such a good collaboration, and I feel Adam has those kinds of collaborations in his life.

Lynne, I loved your story! #Rakastan! So much similarity between your kids and mine. Quite a few years ago my older son created a performance piece for the SF Fringe Festival, and my younger son wrote the music and created sound effects. It is such fun watching one's kids collaborate and have fun together! Glad your kids have that kind of relationship, and, yes, glad Adam has that in his life, too.

Amazed at all the press he gets for facial hair, haircuts, and the like. Great for him, but can you imagine having every piece of clothing or accessory you wear, every hair style or bad hair day discussed, photographed, and voted upon?!
Don't get me wrong, I love having new photos of Adam to brighten my day! Am liking this most recent "where is that from" one.
But, really, how crazy must it be to have every detail flash through the gossip press?? I have a hard enough time getting my uncooperative hair to meet the low standards I set for it, and don't even start analyzing my clothes!! Yikes!!

Just popping in for a bit of lurking, but had to say Yay! to Adam sending out tweets yesterday, some with the Details photos! And Wow! to the photos of him at the airport! Also loving the Labor of Love photos! So great that there are photos or tweets or bits of news so frequently.
More, Adam, more, you don't really need privacy or downtime! What you really need is time to practice the songs you've been writing, to Adamize them and know how you want them to sound on the album. What better way to do that than through a couple of one-off concerts (and the rehearsals that would be required)?? It's a short drive from LA to Fantasy Springs and it didn't take any advertising last time to sell the place out. Not difficult for fans to get there. Oh, yeah, and the band could use a payday.
Oops, no wait, did I say that out loud? I mean, Adam, do what you need, whatever is best for you. We can be patient while you work hard to put together a great album. Yeah, that's right!

So excited for you!! I hope you come down to LA for a show someday so I can go with you! Me too, me too! Mys*&@^#r & Lynne, that would be fun! Hope it comes together sometime. And, of course, gotta hope that Adam & band do a one-off to try out new material at a place such as Fantasy Springs. We, and a bunch of other Atopians, could meet up and have a blast! Keeping fingers crossed...
