I'm in awe of the rollout for this concert dvd/cd.....it's almost everywhere!....what are we expecting in terms of sales....not music cd numbers, right? I really want it to do well. Really, really well! Do I remember correctly that 5000 would be good? That number doesn't sound right, though. It should be 50,000 instead, Indybeck talked about it awhile ago: "I ask this for RIAA certification purposes. I had visions of a Adam being able to hopefully achieve gold on the DVD/CD, since if registered as a DVD the threshold is 50K (as opposed to 500K for a CD)." And, yeah, I'm still pissed about it. Are you still pissed that Adam lost American Idol? Serious question because to me that's about as much of an issue to Adam's career success as GMA cancelling him was.

Sorry, but I disagree. Nothing can be done about the cancellation of Adam's GMA appearance but something can be done about the attitudes that allowed it. And Chris Brown is not a pariah by ABC's standards. He has appeared on GMA and he is going to be singing on Dancing with the Stars next week. ABC needs to have their hypocrisy exposed. Even if it was the simulated oral sex move that riled them up, how can ABC consider that to be worse than an unsimulated beating of a girlfriend? I would love for the AMAs to be put in the past forever, but if ABC is going to allow a known abuser to appear on their programs, I for one am going to protest. It's not that I don't understand what you are saying but do you think you are going to change their mind or they will admit what they did was bullshit? I don't and all that it does is keep that performance in people's minds and I would think we wouldn't want that to be the defining moment of Adam's career. How long until we let that horse rest I guess is my question. Ten years from now when ABC has someone on with a criminal record are we going to be ZOOMG but they cancelled Adam!!!I agree that Adam shouldn't have been cancelled but I don't agree that Chris Brown shouldn't be allowed to appear on their program just because they cancelled Adam. One thing has nothing to do with the other. Apples and Oranges and even if they didn't let Chris appear it would still have been total horsecrap that they clutched their pearls and cancelled Adam. I don't particularly like the the horse analogy or the fruit. One, you shouldn't be beating horses. Two, the horse is definitely not dead. Three, it's nuts, not fruit. Let's talk about morality issues because that's what we're really talking about.

Sorry but can we stop pretending that it was the KISS that they were pissed about? It just seems really disingenuous to act as if he didn't shove that guys face into his crotch. They didn't edit out the kiss on the West Coast feed... they edited out the simulated oral sex move. Do I agree with GMA cancelling Adam? No. It was a huge overreaction and they could have gotten some really good ratings had they went ahead and had him on. However, if the fans want the media to forget about it, which we clearly do since we get testy with every mention (Billy Bush?), then perhaps we should stop bringing it up too. The people who were offended are never going to see that performance as anything other than offensive and GMA can't undo what they did and tweeting over a year and half later about it seems counterproductive. Adam has moved on. He didn't suffer from the cancellation. Today his Glam Nation Live DVD/CD hit stores and seems to be doing extremely well; meanwhile Chris Brown is still a parriah.... it all works out in the end. Adam is a big boy and he has consistently stood by his actions. Chris Brown likewise - contrite or not has to live with his actions, these kinds of events are a lightening rod for a much needed and deeper conversation about the demonization of sexuality and worship of violence in US society and if making the comparison gets people to think differently then bravo. I agree with this, Bridgey, especially the red part. I appreciate what you're saying about moving on, Wonderstruck, but I don't think of this as being about Adam any more at all. It's about a troubling double standard about violence and sex in our culture, and the coincidence of the Chris Brown/Adam GMA decision (and the fact that they both have new material out this week) just serves as a very handy shorthand for beginning that discussion. It's symbolic rather than being specifically newsworthy. But ABC's decision a year and a half ago wasn't random--and it was representative of a general and ongoing unhappy trend. GMA can't undo their decision, it's true, but if striking images like the one with Rihanna and Adam/Tommy begin a conversation about our relative values in this country, that can't be a bad thing, as far as I'm concerned. Personally, I've never been desperate to forget the AMA hoopla. I'm sure it got boring and annoying for Adam in interview after interview, but it placed him on the right side of an ongoing and important national debate, and I think Adam, as a performer, is the perfect symbol of the idea that sexy doesn't have to be bad--it can be joyous.
