But would mentoring on Idol give Adam any amount of TV facetime at all? That's what he needs to get him back into the public awareness. Spelling- I can't imagine not being able to spell. I look at a word and know immediately if it is spelled correctly. My eyes just know. Perhaps it is the same for those who hear music. To me, every note Adam sings or his backups sing is great. I can never hear the "bad" or "off" notes that some fans are so critical of, but their ears just know. So now I can somewhat understand the criticisms of Adam's performances and try to remember that everyone does not see and hear the same. How interesting. 8-) Idol did have guest mentors and they were on TV. IMHO they were much more helpful than the judges. I felt the judges were there only for their own careers. fingers crossed for Adam,he would be perfect.

Queenbert press built Adam's reputation as a singer, performer and recording artist substantially. And the media weights were substantial. He also got a lot of press from Idol speculation. I do not think Adam is out of the "public awareness" although more would be better. Idol could give Adam a platform, but most Idol viewers are not going to buy Adam's music or attend a concert. Look at what happened on iTunes after he performed on Idol. WWFM sold a lot, nothing else really did, including Aftermath. I am skeptical that Idol = dramatically increased recorded music sales for Adam. Yes, Aerosmith's sales doubled after Steven was on the show. But that was because Idol's 50+ audience buys classic rock music. Look at what happened to JoLo -- her album just debuted at #20 with 12,000 units. The Voice judges have big sales but they were big before they were judges. >> For me, I would love him to get to co-headline with an artist with a similar audience. You're forgetting though that JLo has been selling a ton of singles. And she is not an album-seller (dance-type music), she fits more in the single-selling bucket at this point. I would say Idol definitely helped her single "On the floor" to take off. JLo is also touring very successfully right now. Not sure she could have done this, on the same scale, 2-3 years ago, without the fame and spotlight that Idol brought her. Do I think Adam would be ok WITHOUT Idol? ABSOLUTELY. Do I think getting on Idol would help Adam's sales, touring, and overall notoriety? YES. I think it would be hard to argue otherwise. Gotta agree with you Life Traveler. The album that just bombed for JLo is essentially supposed to be a "Greatest Hits" album. Her singles, though have sold millions. On the Floor 3.5 million in the US alone. It was her biggest debuting single ever. She even had one with Piutbull, previously, that did not do as well. Idol definitely jumpstarted JLo's musical comeback. And considering how many people bought WWFM, after Adam performed it on Idol, I'd have to say, If it's the right song, the Idol audience will buy!

I thought Brad Paisley was in LA yesterday finalizing his Idol/FOX gig?! Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood were in Nashville yesterday for a photo shoot, preparing to host “The 46th Annual CMA Awards.

I don't think anyone is really expecting that an Idol judging gig would "dramatically increase music sales." But, it could give his new single a platform and definitely help with sales of that single. Mostly, I think the Idol thing would improve Adam's mainstream exposure---where else can you get on TV 2/week for months? It would also keep the media interested and possibly get him important magazine covers and articles that he just isn't getting now. Popularity on on a show like Idol could also be his ticket to getting an invite to perform on an awards show again.
Basically, Idol could be his alternative to radio (at least for now, until radio catches up) Add someone like Pharrel to the mix and you have an avenue for Adam to gain more "cred"

Besides the fact he would be a great judge, that gig would be tremendous for his career. I believe that the general mainstream public has no idea about Adam's Queen concerts. He hasn't been seen by the TV audience for a long time. He isn't a presence on the radio. I would say that most aren't even aware of Trespassing. He needs to become visible again in a big way. It would greatly increase his concertgoers attendance as well, leading to larger venues, IMO. So to me, the Idol judge position would be *WIN-WIN*.
