... he's rumored to be among those big names (Katy Perry, Bieber, Maroon 5, Kanye, etc.) to have concerts in China in 2013, Just curious about this - can you elaborate on the origin of the rumour? Apologies if I've missed something along the way. Thanks. ETA - I always read this thread and appreciate everyone's expertise on this aspect of things, even though I haven't any myself.
Don't remember exactly when, maybe a month ago, an Atopian posted a screen cap of a Chinese person's tweet, divulging "inside info" to his/her buddies, and I did the translation. This rumor isn't, however, without any merit at all! I read similar stuff on some Chinese sites awhile back too but as of now, it's still just a "beautiful rumor"!
Oh, satisfied, if you're interested in the translation of said screen cap, let me know and I'll repost it for you.

All I care about is that he is able to stay with a major label. RCA or not. I agree that Adam staying with a major label is important. I love this album so much and want it to continue to sell. Crossing fingers for radio play for single 3.

Or another label or the artist can negotiate a buyout. ;D But Adam seems very happy with RCA.
Or a "happy front"?? oops, did I just say that out loud? well, let's just keep it only between you & me then ;D Seriously though, he's got to be frustrated as hell at times....

RCA has made some seemingly bad single choices, but we don't know what info/research they had from radio and PDs going into the whole process. Radio politics must be an incredible thing to go up against. And it can't be all about money or RCA would have "bought" a hit months ago.
Adam has to be hugely frustrated, but I bet most of this is directed at parties other than RCA. He basically made the album he wanted as Executive Producer and got to work with a lot of big names. I think more than the label, DMG needs to step up and get Adam out there. The media loves him, he should be an easy sell. I guess we will see what ends up happening in September. All I know is, his management has had A LOT of time to get promo in order for the fall. There is no excuse for an empty calender Sept/Oct unless there are big things happening that haven't been revealed.
eta---I will give DMG a bit of a break because the timing of the Queen stuff kinda sucked (IMO) But I will give them another chance this fall.

Thanks, Maddie509, no need to repost though. You've answered my question nicely.

No, it's not all about money or "artist trade-off" but when you're not quite established on the radio, that's what it would take essentially to get the ball rolling, or to revive and eventually get to the top---Ellie Goulding!
RCA is not an aggressive, outside the box thinking label, they did what they thought would work but miscalculated in the end. The good thing, IMO, is that they realized soon enough about the first 2 singles prospect and decided not to waste any more resources on them.
IMO, DMG has done a good job so far and no doubt, whatever (aside from radio) is coming our way in Sept and down the road, it's largely their doing.

Every magazine article, every interview, everything Queen, PLL, is all DMG. It is RCA that has failed to get his singles on radio. They have a radio team. It is the radio puzzle piece that is missing, not the others. Oh and speaking of management.... Kelly Clarkson's is beyond awesome! look at her new thing!
Kelly Clarkson has teamed with with Pepsi and the Dallas Cowboys to create an anthem for the Texas football team!

Just saw on twitter that Swift's new single reached #1 on iTunes in 50 min - a record! And 300 CC radio stations are playing it every hour. So - signs are pointing to Trespassing being the next single. What do you numbers gurus think? My (completely uninformed) opinion is: I love the song & am happy for Adam that one of HIS songs will be single #3. BUT - when I listen to top40 radio, admittedly sporadically, most of the songs are sung with cartoonish voices (Levine, Carly Rae, Cher L., etc). That seems to be what teens like at the moment. And the lyrics are very simplistic love/heartbreak-type lyrics. Trespassing just seems too sophisticated for top40 radio to me. Tell me I'm wrong!

Regarding DMG, I am thinking about the empty schedule for Sept/Oct. We will see if they come through. If radio isn't cooperating--and they aren't-- then something else has to happen for a third single to have a chance.
Regarding CHR and what works there these days, I say all rules are out the window. Yes, there are a lot of teen, British acts, but there are also a lot of "not CHR sounding" songs that have made a mark. When my KISS station has embraced Adele, Gotye, Fun then things have changed.
But, it seems like a song (that's not from the usual suspects) needs a little push from somewhere to get it on the radar----let's hope RCA/DMG have a plan.
