OT but not necessarily. I've been saying for YEARS that Gay rights are intrinsically intertwined with Women's rights because as long as femme qualities are used as a basis for insulting and belittling men women HAVE NOT WON EQUAL RIGHTS. If the sexes are TRULY viewed as equal then a man acting in a feminine manner is not a source of ridicule. The insults constantly thrown at all gay men but especially the feminine acting ones prove over and over that women are still considered lesser beings at that being feminine is somehow weak and undesirable. We have seen that women still have a battle for rights to fight but we also need to realize that our battle is not won until the battle for Gay rights is won as well. mommyish.com/childrearing/gender-variant-children-446/#ixzz23R3mtqIT Lesbians take some criticism if they manifest what is perceived as masculine style or behavior though it is not as prevalent as what is leveled at gay men for feminine traits. It seems many people want both men and women to adhere to traditional gender norms. Fortunately this is changing rapidly IMO. I think this change is driven by the fact that more people are accepting the truth that homosexuality is an inherent trait that is a normal variant within the human population, and not a choice.

Aww! I love the way they paid tribute to Freddie during the Olympic closing ceremonies!! Freddie wearing his amazing yellow jacket, singing, interacting, and having fun with his audience....that's how I always remember him. ETA: Oh Nationalglampoon....I just saw your picture above my post....love it!!!

I just debated with myself not to go back to Atopia before going to sleep, because that usually makes me loose an additional 2hrs of sleep that I can hardly afford to loose ....
^^^^^^
However, now I will log off happy and content and all smushy inside ... I will surely have sweet dreams ...
They were both soooo beautiful that night, ... I fell for the whole thing like a rock ... of course it was great PR and both carefully made up, but still ... the love shines through IMO.

Hi! I was away most of yesterday and tuned in when Queen and JJ were performing but didn't get to see the Freddie tribute part. Did we get a video of it because I didn't see one? If someone has it could you please post it? I read a tweet somebody here posted that said something on the lines of...'What is JJ trying to do, channel her Adam Lambert?' I was thinking the same thing during parts of her performance. lol I like JJ but I just didn't think it worked with Queen. Brian and Roger were amazing and had the most energy of anybody I was able to watch on the show. Too bad that 'Rock Royalty' didn't get to close the show. I sure hope Adam and Queen do some more shows together. It would be sad if people all over the world didn't get a chance to see them together live! ETA: Maybe, Talon, you can give us a feel of how Queen fans liked the Olympic performance. I had posted this on the Olympic thread: vimeo.com/47442674Well, um, she didn't suck. And she has a good voice. Just kind of jarring to see a twiggy-thin woman in a almost-not-there body suit going OTT singing WWRY. Weird. Talking about double standards, the outfit is an example of what a girl can get away with and be lauded for, but a guy would be killed for.
