So, "young" gays with balls are the only ones that can go? What no female gays? I would totally go to this event. Adam doesn't know me from the house cat so how could I embarrass him? It couldn't be any worse for wear than "Swinging Richards" in Atlanta after the Symphony Hall performance (and yes, you can guess what was swinging LOL). That was a blast. [/IMG] I went with my son and when he introduced me as his mom, I was totally embraced. So many wanted to party with me and applauded me for supporting my son's sexuality. I am definitely not afraid of my age. There were many straight people there and the only time I felt uncomfortable was when I had to have my son go to the bathroom with me. There are strange things that happen in the bathrooms! This was me....................................... and then............................................ ;D
I FRIGGIN' LOVE THIS STORY!!!

I agree that Brad is bigger. The stats don't lie. However, since Keith is married to Nicole, maybe he has more people who are non Country fans, that know him! yes, yes, I agree with both of you! Bigger country star. But Urban bigger "Hollywood" star, a lot due to Nicole, but not all. I still think he has bigger name recognition, therefore more star power. But because the Atlantic article was, I suppose, about getting a country star, yes, yes, Paisley is bigger country. I still maintain that when Paisley was announced, country fans were excited, but others were meh. When Urban was announced, I saw a much bigger general reaction from people saying, yes! I love him! Great choice! Anyway, I am only expressing my sense. I defer to recognition/sales ratings/rankings. Not in any way my area of expertise.

Sometimes I wonder why some people make a big deal, at this point, about what the "single" will be. If this were prior to the release of the album, and all the songs were new to us, but we are no longer TP virgins. We have heard all the songs. We have the cd, we play the songs, all or most of them, every day. So why?
I saw a tweet by a girl who said she was giving up on Adam, because RUNNING was not a single. She's listening to the song off the cd, and she's upset that it's not a "single". I don't get it.

Urban also has judging experience from The Voice Australia. I watched the entire season and he was the most accessible judge on the panel, IMO.

Maybe Nicki isn't a done deal... I bet she is not a done deal yet. A dj on my Top 40 station stated this evening that she should be signed in a couple of days. Where he got this from I have no idea.

If they do 2 a week plus LA (the big announcement city) they can start on 9.12. IF they unveil the judges week of 9/12 in LA at the LA judging event. then do 9/17 OK + San Antonio, 9/24 NOLA + Charlotte, 10/1 Newark + Chicago. 4 weeks. Done by 10/5. Two a week for four consecutive weeks? I don't think they have ever done that, at least not in the past five years. Maybe they don't have to announce the judges before starting the judges round.

I respectfully disagree, Q3. Keith Urban is a much bigger star. I know who Brad Paisley is. But so many people were saying, "Who's this Paisley dude?" Nobody was saying that about Urban. I guess I need to clarify. Keith Urban is the biggest "star." Paisley may have bigger in sales in Country tho. Brad is bigger in Country sales, and in total sales and bigger in the US. Keith Urban is bigger in Australia and in the US as an Adult Contemporary artist. >> Anyone who listens to any country music knows Brad Paisley. But if someone ignores Country music, they may not know him. Brad Paisley was the 2008 CMA and ACM Male Vocalist of the Year winner. Starting with the release of his 1999 album Who Needs Pictures, He has charted 25 singles on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, 16 of which have reached No. 1 with a record 10 consecutive singles reaching the top spot on the chart. On November 10, 2010, Paisley won the Entertainer of the Year award at the 44th annual CMA Awards. Actually Q3 Keith Urban had very limited success here in Australia until recently when he was a judge on The Voice Australia and released a greatest hits album that had good chart success. Mostly he was known for being married to Nicole Kidman, much more so than for his music.

I hope this is not too "negative", but I have to say that I am a bit bothered by Adam doing this MATINEE show. Yes, I understand that it is another of DMG's attempt to promote Adam to a gay audience. But my concern is that DMG seems to be promoting Adam as a "gay entertainer" and that will not only limit Adam's appeal to the mainstream, but will actually limit Adam's appeal to the gay male audience. Last Thursday, I tuned in to "Derek and Romaine", the evening show on OUT-Q on Sirius. There was a discussion going on about why gay men were not more supportive of gay male performers. Adam's name was a part of the discussion. If someone heard more of the show, perhaps they can fill me in. But one key statement by Derek is relevant here. He said gay men do not accept someone who is just on the cover of The Advocate, they will support someone only after that someone is on the cover of TIME. In other words, if a gay artist can't sell himself to the mainstream, don't look for gay people to support him. I wanted to write to Derek and say that Adam is pretty much accepted as a mainstream performer in most of the world. It is only in America that major success alludes him, and I believe that is because of homophobia. But I am waiting to get filled in on what the total discussion was (as I only heard a few sentences). Perhaps some in the gay community who think being on the cover of The Advocate is somehow "lowly" would like an opportunity to speak to the pm of Australia; i hate when anyone is marginalized.

Keith Urban has done pretty well for himself over the years: Of his 33 solo singles, 27 were released to US and Canadian radio. He has scored 14 #1 singles in the US, including his guest appearance on Brad Paisley's single "Start a Band". "Once in a Lifetime" is his highest-debuting single on the US Hot Country Songs chart, entering at #17. "You'll Think of Me" and "Making Memories of Us" were also hits on the Adult Contemporary chart, at #2 and #5, respectively. As far as not being known in Australia: Every one of Keith's albums has gone at least Platinum in Australia. How is he not known in that country? Also, all of Urban's albums, before this last one, sold platinum or multi-platinum in Canada and the US. His last album was gold in the US and Canada and platinum in Australia. It also looks like KU has four Grammys awards. Not too shabby!
