Lurking around real quick and the only thing coming to my mind right now is that no matter what the outcome of AI, the fandom is going to either implode or explode - big time. Seems so much angst and/or anticipation had built up it is like a powder keg in waiting... I will surely watch the ride until I can post more often. But in any event, wow, it will be a jolting ride for sure... IMHO Seriously... its like kids a Christmas time. The anticipation is better/worse than the actual event.

The 1in10 donation from the Queen/Adam Lambert attendees is such a lovely idea! Kudos!
*looks around to make sure bridgeymah is not within earshot (sorry bb) - does anybody follow Enrique on twitter? Does he tweet? Has he made ANY kind of reference to Idol? Have his fans? Just wondering.
I think the promotion value of Idol far outweighs any salary concerns. If Demi is only getting 1 million for xFactor, why would we expect Adam to get much more?
sidenote: Just saw today that Adam Levine has parlayed his gig on The Voice into a role on American Horror Story. Exposure on these huge talent shows is priceless! I want this for Adam, dammit! ;D

I couldn't resist googling this ... apparently the tour was long scheduled to conclude this weekend anyway. He and JLo cancelled the final tour date on Sunday in Orlando, apparently because of poor ticket sales. Me, I don't think it's significant one way or another. I'm glad then that this isn't new news. I don't know if this is true or not but the guys at PLJ said Enrique said he couldn't stand working with JLo anymore because she is such a diva and lip-synched all her numbers. He also resented that he was responsible for sales of tickets and she didn't draw anyone. Sounded real nasty! I have actually suspected that the reason for Enrique's cancelled shows is because of a "working together" problem.

I am a passionate Adam fan and will be for the rest of my life. I think he is amazing on so many levels. His examples of being true to himself and trying to stay positive in negative situations carry over to how I try to live my own life. I want this Idol judge for him. But if he doesn't get it I will move on and not dwell on the negative. That is something he taught me too. Adam is love and joy and laughter. That is how I want to be. This could end in so many ways. But it has to end in September. There is a real possibility that Adam wants more money to do Idol than they want to pay him. They are already spending a ton of money on judges -- around $30+ million for 3 judges. Can't imagine they will spend $4-$5 million on the 4th judge. And I would HATE to see Adam do this for less than $5 million. Plus, they have to pay Randy and $35 million for Ryan. (Judges get more than the salary -- they get a lot of expensive +++'s) If the rumor about Urban is true (and I think it is) why would you not expect Adam to get about the same amount of $$?

Reasons Idol DOES need Adam:
• Above all, they need someone who CAN and WILL judge and give constructive criticism. This was the fail of the last panel and the feedback they've received repeatedly. All the star power in the world means nothing after the second or third week if you have NOTHING of relevance to say. • Idol is in a free fall as a "star maker," which is the entire narrative of the show. They have two indisputable STARS (in the U.S.) in 11 seasons, both very long ago. Adam IS the third, but so many in the U.S. don't realize his international achievements, so they just need to package and sell his milestones to the U.S. audience. They have the perfect opportunity to do that as a judge. • Adam has fantastic material, he just needs the exposure. He is a ready-made package and really perfect across the board for judging. • He does have chemistry and can get along with anyone. He doesn't get bulldozed or over-powered by larger-than-life personalities and he's considerate enough not to dominate a panel. He's funny, irreverent, very quick and HE IS THE CONTINUITY FOR IDOL. Making a clean sweep of the judges desk is not without difficulties. They need someone who is not an Idol outsider to set the tone.
Adam, of course, has tons to gain by the exposure and promotion and I can't imagine DMG haggling about a minor figure when they can tie more into his deal with promotion, licensing, etc. Adam could make back the money he might lose on salary with a few Queen concerts or a bunch of one-offs.
DMG was doing the deal when they were supposedly throwing figures like $20M around for Katy. Idol tipped their hand that they could afford A LOT to DMG at that point. I really don't think either side would let something so perfect fall through by haggling about $1M (which AI can totally afford).

This is TOTALLY off topic, but we had $160 left over from the 83 attendees at the Queen/Adam pre-concerts party in London on July 10th. JustGill and I decided to donate the money to 1in10 for the kids to attend Adam’s concert at the Arizona State Fair on Oct. 17th. I think this is a win-win for the kids and for Adam Back to enjoying tweets and Idol discussion...

I don't see the "alum" thing as a detriment. If anything - it is a feather in their hat... He mentored. Nigel loves Travis on the SYTYCD and they have other alums as choreographers... IMO - it all comes down to demo and advertisers. Nothing else. It does come down to ratings and getting the right demo and amount of viewers they are shooting for. How do you do that? You have a show that people want to watch. Steven should have been highly entertaining, but he was the dullest of dull! Jlo wasn't worth what they were paying her either! Randy is and always has been overpaid and a terrible judge. AI wants and NEEDS personalities on that panel! They need some crazy. some loopy, some drama, some eye candy, some sweetness and some good advisers. They want all this in a package that will retain their old viewers, bring back the ones who have left and get new (younger) viewers. Then, these judges need to have chemistry, because that is when viewers really enjoy watching. Lastly, they need to make sure that these four choices stay within their budget. When you look at all the factors and consider that this is the #1 rated (non-sports) show in the US, this is an important multi-million dollar decision and not one that the producers are taking lightly. A bad decision could cost them millions of dollars! ITA with every word. Having said that - WHY did they keep Randy for all these years? He brought a huge ZERO to the panel, no charisma, no speaking ability, nada. Simon was the attraction Paula had lots of entertainment value, Kara understood what she heard and gave reasonable advice, Randy was the black dude with no descernable input. Now they want "stars" regardless of anything else... Of course they need a person with an "accent" preferably British (well I guess AU will do) = respectability : , two set of huge boobs = obvious attraction : , and I have no idea what else advertisers need... the thing is I doubt they want a gay guy - what audience does he attract? I am really talking myself out of any possibility of this thing happening... better go do something useful... Dear UNIVERSE! MAKE THIS STOP!

If the rumor about Urban is true (and I think it is) why would you not expect Adam to get about the same amount of $$? Because he's not as big as Urban?
