Weird that so many people have reported Trespassing being a non-Glambert favourite, it's either been Shady, Naked Love or Cuckoo here! According to our resent member poll Shady at 41 votes is our most popular, but Trespassing at 21 beats NL at 1 and Cuckoo at 3. I think Trespassing now followed by Shady could be a winning formula. My personal favorites don't make the cut on radio. Guess that is why I have CD's and an ipod. lol I love Voodoo and Runnin and play them repeatedly...but for radio...total difference in choice of song. Runnin is the one my 23 year old nephew likes the most from the new album. It is not going to be promoted. PS His team played Carly Rae Jepson's song before every game last season...he loves it! Cuckoo has a cool beat for for dancey mode. I love the beat of Naked Love yet that is not a choice at all for the young adults in my family; they liked Trespassing better. (not that they even really liked it all that much ...sad to say). Kickin In seemed to resonate with national music critics whose critiques were printed in local papers, but who the heck knows what radio program directors will play. Our local radio stations (plural) played WWFM and IIHY and have never played BTIKM or NOCE on any rotation. Requesting did not help. What a crap shoot. I hope RCA pays lots of money to get this party started! (Trespassing or Cuckoo). By radio playing which ever it is... over and over ...people warm up to a song. And then...AWAY WE GO! Yah!

I think I like the old payola system better.
You pay your money and they play your song.
I bet it was cheaper, too.

If RCA spends a ton of money promoting Trespassing, it will be Adam's money they are spending. In the end, the "project" gets charged for everything.

I noticed that Freddie Mercury was trending worldwide, and then I ran across this. BrianMayCom @brianmaycom HAPPY 66TH BIRTHDAY #FREDDIEMERCURY Keeping us entertained, enthralled as ever. Have a rockin' party in the sky. twitpic.com/ar7fxk Happy Birthday in heaven, Freddie! I'm still missing all the hoopla around the QAL collaboration and concert series. For me, (for some of you), it remains my favorite Adam-era yet. For anyone interested in Brian May's progress in Guitar World's "Greatest Guitar Player of All Time" tournament, here's an update: Now entering the 4th round, and whittled down to the Top 16 guitarists and our boy, Brian, is still in it. www.guitarworld.com/greatest-guitarist-all-time-readers-poll-sweet-sixteensnip Brian May Round 1 — Defeated Tom Scholz Round 2 — Defeated Jeff Beck Round 3 — Defeated George HarrisonBrian May is responsible for not one, but two of the biggest upsets of the tournament thus far, knocking out Jeff Beck and The Beatles' George Harrison in consecutive rounds to make it to the Sweet 16. Toting his Red Special into Round 4, the Queen guitarist will have his hands full with another legend who knew a thing or two about building guitars. Next Opponent: Les PaulKey to Victory:Catalog/Body of Work. Les Paul was a true innovator, but it wouldn't be a stretch to say that your average rock fan can hum more classic Queen guitar solos than Les Paul riffs.

I think I like the old payola system better. You pay your money and they play your song. I bet it was cheaper, too. It was not cheaper. It was not better. It was terrible. Now it is just bad. Sometimes artists and songwriters were even forced to sign over all their royalties. The combination of the enforcement (NY State Attorney General Settlements/fines 2004-2005) and the rise of streaming media/digital/P2P music has worked together to break corporate radio's 35 year lockhold on what is a hit.

Well, if RCA's plan is to try to push Trespassing to HAC first, than I am not going to have much hope for this song's era.
If they want a hit, they are going to have to do better than that.

CHR (Contemporary Hits Radio) stations play hits. Trespassing needs to be "a hit" somewhere AND prove that target radio listeners what to hear it before CHR stations will support it strongly. Hard for it to jump up on iTunes even with a big TV performance. Idol --even being an Idol judge -- will not get a song airplay. Example, Mariah's single. The Voice will not ensure anything either -- Example, Cee Lo Green. >> And even a ton of pop radio support will not assure a song is a #1 hit or even makes BB Top 10. Look at the current #1 Pop song -- Demi Lovato's Give Your Heart a Break -- peaked at #16 on the BB Hot 100 (because of radio airplay points), and at #21 on Digital Songs. Maybe it will move up on sales, but not sure how much more CHR stations can play this song. Currently the #1 Pop Radio song, #27 on iTunes. >> And a song can be #1 in digital sales and not get support from Pop Radio -- Idol alums specialize in this -- look at P2: 36 33 PHILLIP PHILLIPS Home 1109 910 199 4.990 BB Top 10 twice -- both times on digital sales. IMO, Home is an example of a song that just does not fit the CHR target audience that well. Sales alone are not enough. >> I think if Trespassing can prove that listeners 15-29/35 want to listen to it, than it will get a shot on Pop Radio. OR if it rockets to the top of iTunes and stays in the Top 10 for a while. I am not expecting it to sell magically so either it is the new NFL theme song (that is something big and repetitive) or they need to push it hard to HAC. Promotion and buzz do matter; if a song needed to be a hit BEFORE chr played it, wwfm would never have made it on chr, ditto for iihy. wwfm made it because Adam had huge idol buzz back then. z100 got on it very early, before even the fans had totally realized that it had replaced fye, and they played the hell out of it. That song got huge chr support almost immediately upon release. What's different now is Adam has been gone for a while, and doesn't have the buzz or the visibility. Adam as judge on idol is, I agree, not guaranteed to get him a hit on chr. However, the buzz will most definitely up his chances. Without that kind of buzz, what reason is there for radio to treat Trp any differently than they did btikm or ncoe? Ncoe, especially, was a great song. It is immensely troubling that radio scorned it.
