I totally agree with your thinking! NM comments about idol made me think twice that maybe she will
decline the offer. This has been the trend. Idol leaks names then weeks later
those named are reported that they declined the offer.
ETA- She declined the offer or AI changed their mind on signing her.
Also this from the Deadline article. The role of original American Idol judge Randy Jackson remains unclear. :dunno:

I really don't want to get hooked on hope again, but at least this time I'll be better able to handle any disappointment. I've had practice!
That 9/22 date disturbs me though. As I've already said I am leaving for vacation on the 20th and there is NO WAY I can NOT KNOW the outcome before I go. And I need to know well enough in advance so I can properly flail or moan, whichever is appropriate.

The only thing after Mariah's announcement was that they were looking at possibly going to 4 judges. Simon Fuller basically said nothing of any consequence the one time someone talked to him. This all may be just wishful thinking but I wouldn't put it past Idol to be engaging in a serious case of misdirection in order to have the actual panel announcement be a surprise. Most of the outlets that have been reporting rumors are known to be in bed with Idol and/or Fox and controlled leaks are a legitimate PR tool. While it is certainly possible that they are disorganized enough to leave the decision down to the last possible minute it seems pretty stupid for a show that the media is already questioning its survivability to allow them to be portrayed in the press as bumbling idiots who are down to 4th or 5th choice on Judges. If they did sign Adam and Pharrell early then when they announce they can say "we've had these guys signed all along but decided late to add a 4th". If the 4th is Keith then he's really only second choice because Brad Paisley didn't take it. We'll know one way or another by 9/22 at the latest since they obviously have to have the judges in place for the first judge callback. Speaking of which, why would they have scheduled that if they still didn't know who the judges would be? Anyway, if I'm wrong, I'm wrong. No big deal. I don't think we can take Shirley Halperin out of the mix---she was the first source to really site Enrique as a legitimate Idol "want." And she has said nothing about Adam (I don't count that picture she tweeted, for all we know she could have been having lunch at that deli and just snapped a picture for fun---she'a a big fan). Enrique is playing 9/22 at that huge I Heart Radio concert---but there are, like, 30 acts performing, I think. He could easily cancel out on his probably 15-20 minute set; or they could maybe even work around it. Just my speculation---I think Adam probably only got an answer about Idol in the last few days. I don't expect him to make some grand statement. And I don't expect him to suddenly unfollow Mariah or AI. And who knows, maybe he was offered a mentor position or something. |

I break it down like this --- Known:Nigel and Ryan - both have new contracts. Mariah - announced as a judge Randy will not be a judge but may have a different role with the show. Bullsfan, Enrique still has the i-Heart show on his website. So, until that disappears, I am holding onto the fact that he is not a confirmed judge. Also, Shirley has not mentioned Enrique for 2 weeks (I think.) And everything that Q3 just said!

About Adam's FUBAR tweet, maybe it's a way of signaling IDOl is going beyond even four judges this year to FIVE. Hey, everyone needs some representation. So if Enrique is going to be their Latino judge, then Adam will be the GAY judge!

Here is my reasoning re the FUBAR tweet (and trying to answer some of the sentiments I saw as a response to my post): Adam is smart. He is playing the game. I doubt he would do anything that would jeopardize his chances. He even deleted his quite sterile "Ambien" tweets. The Matinee performance was uber conservative IMO: he came out dressed like a nun (compare to his AU code piece gig), he had no discernible banter, he performed as if he were on a family show (two grabs is all I noticed)... The "fag" video is quite old... I really don't see how it applies to the "keep it clean for AI" attitude that he's been engaging during this past several months. Nicky Minaj is there for a shock value in the first place. She is there to create some "staged conflict" with Mariah , in the same manner as Simon and Paula were playing some stupid roles for years. So, I don't think that anything Nicky does can hurt her chances. My "conclusion" has nothing to do with him BEING there - it has to do with ANNOUNCING he was there and endorsing the place - he did not have to do that. He could've gone as he goes to many places without tweeting about it. I see no relevance in TMZ allegedly being there - it is not like he was going to be "caught" doing something "bad"... Obviously - it may very well be that Adam has never seen the site and has no idea what and how is presented there. In this case - he just had a great time and he tweeted about it. If he has seen it - the message I see is "I don't care about AI and their advertisers any more". I hope I am wrong and he was signed. But again - that is how I took his tweet - YMMV. |

If Adam killed the AI rumor, it would be tantamount to confirming Enrique because it was reported that they were the two in consideration. It is AI's place to confirm the judges so I am not a all surprised that he would not say anything.
