All I need now is a sign that RCA is going to put some muscle behind the single. I can get over Idol, I just need to know that Trespassing isn't going to get lost this fall with all the new releases that are coming. I'll take anything---an add date, some promo scheduled, anything. Come on RCA! This is where I'm at! I've expected that Adam wasn't getting the job for a few weeks, as all the signs were pointing in that direction. We now know that Adam smiles because...he is a smiley person. Adam is happy...because he is a happy person. Adam uses winky faces on tweets...because he likes that particular emoticon. THANK GOD IT IS OVER!!! Now, my question is: what is the "secret stuff" that was planned in September? Surely it wasn't PR and Fashion Week? ??? I'm ready to see something moving with the next single!!! This. Time to get on Trespassing, and may it succeed

Sometimes it is very easy to diminish the barriers that Adam broke through. 1. For all the talk about he would have made it as a recording artist without Idol -- I do not think Adam would have made it. We all know the list of first's Adam accomplished but the two big ones are FIRST openly gay US artist to get signed to a major label contract and FIRST openly gay artist to get radio airplay in the US. (Yes, there are asterisks for artists who came out late in their careers etc but you know what I mean. BUT even Boy George never came out until later.) 2. Even with Idol, Adam has not had an easy time. The world, not just the US, is NOT a level playing field for gay artists. 3. Remember at Adam's Idol audition, Randy said, something like "I think the time is right for someone like you..." I am convinced he meant gay, and more specifically who was openly gay in his performance style and person. >> Please don't go down the rabbit hole of the Gay Faire being signed or Elton John getting airplay in the 90's. You know what I mean -- in 2009 >> In 2009, when Adam was on Idol, US Radio would not play Sam Sparro's #2 UK Hit Song "Black & Gold". It was relegated to the gay ghetto -- clubs. >> Adam will win through in the end -- and he has opened up a path for other gay artists and celebrities. He did not do it alone but he played a big role. >> Most importantly, he did it on Idol -- a show that is popular with millions of tweens and teens. I know he has helped a few kids I know be brave and true and proud. >> Adam has gotten here and stayed nice. His patience and grace and class + unrelenting push to be true to himself changed the hearts and mind of many. On the Idol thing -- I am very pleased that a gay artist was proposed as a judge and that was not even an issue for most people. We have come a long way. Thank you Q3! YES! THANK YOU, Q3!

Adam would have done it one way or the other . As I said before , Adam is here because of his talent . Not Idol . Look at Kris Allen . Where is he ? Does anybody remember him ? He was on the same show , Won the show , But nothing . Again , Adam is here because of his talent . Sometimes it is very easy to diminish the barriers that Adam broke through. 1. First idol alumn and first gay artist was proposed as an AI judge.

Sorry but I don't believe for one minute that Adam turned it down. It would have been good for his career no matter how much money was offered. I know it's difficult for us to accept that they actually rejected him but it seems that's what happened. For whatever reasons we don't know.
I would love to know what went on behind the scenes.Well, after they got Urban for $4 mil, they probably offered Adam $2 mil ... and after the Queen success, and with a probable tour coming up, $2 mil probably looked like an insult to Adam ... just sayin' ... But it was never about the salary. It was about the exposure and taking his career to another level. Now they will have to just find other ways to do this.

I don't think it makes EVERYONE "feel better to believe that Idol is a sinking ship," but I think it definitely makes some people feel better. And I hope they do feel better. We're all processing.
(I'll admit to a little "schadenfreude" when I read that Gawker piece, even though I think AI will do well enough next season.)

I agree that it's opportunity/cost, but cost for a celebrity is not only the dollar sign. The exposure idol would have brought Adam was priceless, needed right now. Demi did X-Factor for $1 million, and now has a #1 song. That #1 and the exposure outweighs the $1 million she was paid. I doubt that Adam held up the proceedings because he wanted a higher salary or wanted out because he felt idol was a sinking ship. Something else happened. Demi had the #1 song POP RADIO AIRPLAY SONG before she did X-Factor. And it was headed there before it was even announced that she would do X-Factor. (It peaked at #16 on the BB chart.) >> Currently it is #3 on the Pop airplay chart and headed down. #31 on iTunes and falling there too. IMO X-Factor hired an 20 year old judge because she was on track to have the #1 song and is very, very popular with young women. You are totally right, I'm totally wrong...about Demi. However, what doesn't work for Demi works for J Lo and Adam Levine. These shows offered exposure and success on the charts for people who had been off the charts for years. Again, I doubt that Adam chose to hold up idol negotiations for a higher salary or because he felt idol was a sinking ship and likely to hurt his career.

IMO X-Factor hired an 20 year old judge because she was on track to have the #1 song and is very, very popular with young women. GYHAB was #1, it was #1 for two weeks! Who cares if it is #3 now and moving down, she still had a #1! There was no way to know that Demi's single was headed to #1 before the X Factor announcement was made. It was at #22 the day of the announcement. For the next two weeks, the song stalled and even went backwards and then BOOM- it started climbing and it never stopped. All of a sudden Demi was everywhere- headlining radio shows (one where Adam was performing), hosting the teen choice awards, etc. It's next to impossible to predict a #1 song, much less for someone not named Katy Perry or Taylor Swift. Pick a song (by an artist who has never had a top 10 CHR hit) currently between 20 and 40 and try to predict which song will make it to the number one spot! X Factor took a chance on a young girl who had never had a top 10 song. It has paid off for Demi and looking at how things are going, it looks like Demi is going to be the star of the X Factor panel this fall. IMO, this would have been what could have happened with Adam on AI. The announcement could have brought attention to Adam's single and album and Idol (if they had taken a freaking chance >:() could have found that their "low budget" option gave them the most bang for their buck! Oh well....
