That's funny. I have the same sort of reaction. Yes, he occasionally does something outrageous on stage, but it's usually a bit silly or followed with an eye roll. Or maybe my conforming self has just become desensitized after three years. : Oh, and he does like to party. I love outrageous Adam. I wish I saw more of it. My favorite Adam is Zodiac Show Adam. I know he wants mass appeal but I wish he felt he could just let loose, but you know what would happen if he did! Too funny. I woke up this a.m. wondering if anyone on Atop had actually seen Adam perform in the Zodiac show. We've seen the videos but did anyone here actually witness it first hand?? Wouldn't you just die for that opportunity?!

I love in that Scottish interview when Adam describes his AMA performance as being "frisky". *** This will start off a bit OT, but trust me I will bring it back to Adam. Yesterday, I saw the movie, Master -- an unusual but brilliant film. It was preceded by a preview for Les Miserables that described their new approach to creating a movie musical. Here it is.... The preview is 5 minutes long, so in brief, they are recording the actors singing and then having the orchestra scored to the singing -- giving the actors the ability to freely act and create an emotional moment. Based on the clips released so far, it looks like it may have worked. So what does this have to do with Adam? Adam performing live, and unconstrained, is almost always at his best. Give me Adam and a microphone and I would be happy. IMO the first two Adam albums (which I love) still fail to capture the power, the emotion, the essence of what makes Adam, Adam. Perhaps they need to create a new recording process for Adam. So way to shift the power from the producers to the performer. I think that Les Miserables may have found a way to make a movie musical less constrained. I would love to see the same thing happen for Adam's next album.

ETA: Lambosessed's Adam Lambert performances is amazing!!

(2004)There's no doubt this man can act!! 8-) December 15, 2004 The Zodiac Show A Change Is Gonna Comeatop.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=preidolperformances&thread=21&page=6#631504B. Bronson, Fred. "Adam Lambert: The ultimate interview, Part Two." Los Angeles Times 5 August 2009. latimesblogs.latimes.com/americanidoltracker/2009/08/adam-lambert-the-ultimate-interview-part-two.htmlatop.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=idolpreformances&action=display&thread=23&page=16#89503Very detailed interview about every aspect of Adam's life and career. Part two covers the period from 2001 to 2005. Who did you play in “The Ten Commandments”?Joshua. Everything was copacetic by the end, but in the beginning, I was doing all this promotion for them to get interest built for the show and singing the song everywhere. I was on the Chabad Telethon and I was in love with being a rock star and I was going to rehearsal with nail polish on and eyeliner from the night before, and the director came up to me and said, “Could you take all that off?” and I asked, “Why?” He told me, “The producers are a little uncomfortable with it. They don’t really get it,” and I said, “But we’re not in costume yet. Why does it matter?” He said, “They feel like you’re supposed to be the leader of the Hebrew army by the end of this and they’re really uncomfortable with the way it looks.” And I told him, “This is theater. This is a pop musical. What ... is your problem?” So I faced more opposition, like I did on the cruise ship. It was that same type of thing repeating itself where I felt like they just didn’t believe in me, which was really hard for me. I found out later they had been seeing other people trying to replace me. When the show opened, I was one of the only people that got good reviews, so it was the best victory ever. You were worried about my nail polish and I’m getting better reviews than [others], so that was a big moment for me. It was interesting hanging out with Val Kilmer because he took a liking to me and a couple other people and we would always go and eat together and we would go hang out at his house and he just really wanted to have a group of friends during this experience. I’ve lost touch with him, but he’s very cool. Eccentric but cool, and it was interesting being in the shadows with him in public. It was my first taste of what it must be like to be a celebrity and have people want your autograph and having people take pictures of you. It was a good eye opener for me, what it must be like to be a celebrity and to be famous. Fame has its positives and its negatives. It taught me a lot. I realized Val had to really watch what he said. Then I was kicking around Hollywood ... and going to clubs like Hyde and seeing famous people and getting photographed here and there. Right after “Ten Commandments,” I did the Zodiac show, the first one at the Music Box, and I sang “A Change Is Gonna Come” in a full glam-feathered outfit. The same Sam Cooke song that Simon Fuller chose for you to sing on “American Idol.” Did Simon know that you had performed the song earlier in your career?I don’t know. We never talked about that, but what was interesting about that was I changed a lyric in it. Instead of “I’m afraid to die,” I sang, “I don’t see what’s wrong with a little glitter around my eyes,” because I wanted the song to be about what I was dealing with on “The Ten Commandments,” this weird, ignorant, “Why are you wearing nail polish?” Like this weird discrimination because I was expressing myself and having people feel uncomfortable with that and then everything tying into my sexuality and just being alternative in any way and wanting the song to be about that. It’s interesting that that came full circle with “Idol.” Really weird and the same issues. Maybe more far-reaching this time and less personal.

Adding this because it has Simon's standing "O." Remember, the show ran over that night and millions of people missed this! :(

"First and foremost, I have learned that Adam fans are some of the most creative, caring and interesting women and men I have ever met." Q3 - September 23, 2012
And to confirm Q3's insight, fans of Adam - Adamtopians extraordinaire - have cared so much that 35 reserved seats for Adam's concert at the AZ State Fair have been purchased for the 1n10 youth. The youth will be able to sit in close proximity...and there are enough donations to cover fair admission and light rail / bus transportation. Some of the awesome staff will accompany the youth as well.
Thank you to those who made this possible, and to everyone who took an interest by sending ideas or good thoughts. We cannot measure how much this will mean to the youth, or the impact it will have in their lives. However, it seems to me that the wonder of Adam and his music, along with the love and kindness woven into this by all of you. will create a wonderful experience and happy memories. And that means a lot :-)
In the words of 1n10 staff "This is amazing....what an outpouring of support from Adam Lambert’s fans".
There are a couple of ideas floating about (such as a tour of 1n10 for those in town) - will provide updates soon.
Love to all on this "happy Sunday".

My friend and I saw this preview at a movie theater last night. I'm very excited to see how the live singing concept pans out. And all the actors are actually good singers--YAY! Can you imagine Adam in a movie musical like that?!?! I'm interested to see if he has the tv/film acting chops that could get him a role in a movie musical. I agree that the albums don't capture Adam's best as an artist (and I don't use that term for all singers/performers). My favorite tracks to listen to have consistently been live performances (thanks to the internet). I've listened obsessively to GNT live, QAL Kiev, acoustic radio performances, live t.v., etc.

www.ontopmag.com/article.aspx?id=13059&MediaType=1&Category=22Adam Lambert Says Marriage Is An Economic Issue For Gay PeopleBY ON TOP MAGAZINE STAFF PUBLISHED: SEPTEMBER 23, 2012 Adam Lambert believes legalizing marriage for gay and lesbian couples is an economic issue. The 30-year-old Lambert is set to headline a fundraiser concert to benefit Marylanders for Marriage Equality, the group working to uphold a gay marriage law approved by Maryland lawmakers. “Ideally, that's what being an American is – that we all have a shot [at marriage],” he told gay weekly Metro Weekly. “I hear a lot of arguments against it, where [gay activists] say, 'We should be focusing on economic issues and not human rights issues, for the election.' There's some value in that. But I also think, 'You know what? This is an economic issue for gay people.' We should have the same right as a straight couple to have a tax exemption. … We should be able to raise a family that's equally protected under the law,” he said. more..
