From what I read from twitter conversation yesterday between Terra & Alidol, it's a lot of Bureaucracy to have him perform due to the Chinese law i.e. gay. Then Alidol mentioned about Jake & Scissor Sister's concert that was cancelled recently. Not sure if it's due to his sexuality or not. However if Adam has a concert in December, I think he will be the first western gay singer who have a concert in China. Maybe we can ask Maddie to confirm it with Alidol about this?
It has very little or nothing to do with his sexuality. I said it in yesterday's thread that very few foreign acts or artists could really make a grand impression on the national scale in China, I forgot to point out one of the main reasons was because of the Chinese Ministry of Culture. Here is a link to better understand what this Chinese government bureau does: www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/aug/24/banned-china-lady-gaga-perry.
This is why that Modonna has never had concerts in China, MJ wasn't banned but the chance never materialized. And, no Pop diva from today's music landscape has had concerts in China, many of their songs are on the "black list". Interestingly, Elton John has been very welcome in China. He'll have a concert in Shanghai in Nov. then Hong Kong, his last concert in China was 8 years ago. Maroon 5 just had their very first concert in China on Sept 25th, so our Adam won't be the first major American entertainer to have concerts in China, however, he'll be the first to perform on Chinese National TV, on the most popular program at that. There're other foreign acts before him though: Avril and Shakira, who have also appeared on Chinese TV before.
thank you for the info, maddie!this really puts it into perspective and it is totally clear that this is a huge win for Adam! #proudmama

Thanks Maddie... so Adam is the first foreign guest in The Voice of China right? So his fans are able to see him LIVE, Adam can make some adjustment .. he did it for Malaysian concert and he can do it again in China.... or Indonesia if there's ever a request for him to perform in Jakarta. ;D

What I was most impressed with in the contestant is that he did a very good job of connecting with the emotion of the song. Most often when foreign singers cover songs in English they loose the emotional connection to the song but this guy was really serving up the emotion to match the words as well as he and Adam singing "to" each other rather than simply sharing the stage. Very moving.

anything I hear sounds so... 80s? a bit provincial ? may be because of language Do you mean the music sounds like 1980's. Many of the songs sung in Chinese (I'm assuming) on this show have a different sound from today's pop. Maybe that is why Time for Miracles was a big hit there.
