FWIW - from twitter. Apparently some fairly knowledgeable ppl think Tsp never "officially" went for adds based on replies from radio stations:

This was the date Adam has been plugging. If it was officially going for adds on some other date I think Adam would know and would be tweeting that out. He is treating this week as "official" for radio. But, I don't think it really matters. Radio isn't waiting for some official date to jump all over the song. It hasn't worked that way for Adam this era. |

Is there anywhere to look that Trespassing is officially being sent to radio as a single ? I have been seeing talk that this may not be an official release. The question is how much support will come from RCA on this single and how much money will Adam put behind it. RCA serviced the track to HAC stations in the US and Canada. That would make it "released to radio". In addition, Trespassing is in All Access' as HAC "Cool New Music" which carries this description: "ALL ACCESS DOWNLOADS is currently available in the US & Canada, via a permission-based recipient list that is approved by record labels and other music providers. Authorized users include: (1) All radio programming personnel at all MEDIABASE and BDS-monitored or reporting stations, (2) Label-selected non-reporting stations, (3) Those in corporate programming positions at all radio companies, and (4) Consultants, satellite providers, syndicated shows, and a growing number of the major Internet programming services."The songs on this list are singles that have been released or will be released for radio airplay in the US. There is no advertising campaign on the trade websites like All Access but not every song released to radio is promoted or listed there. Adam and his management seem to have decided to not spend the money to do this promotion. I doubt an All Access ad campaign would do anything for getting Trespassing US Airplay. Ok, are there enough Canadian adds that maybe something can get started there? Maybe if Trespassing can climb the charts in Canada it could spark something with US radio.

Shoshanna responded to someone today from Germany who told her that Sony told her that German radio would not play Trespassing. Shosh responded to this person saying not true, that they usually respond after the US does. Well, if US radio doesn't respond to him?....
I'm just perplexed by all of this. Radio stations telling fans there is no adds date, acting clueless when we request it. Seems to me that they're just throwing the EP out there to try to recoup some of their money. Doing a few radio concerts won't help. Didn't help him with NCOE. Those handful of stations add the song, play it at night and no one else across the country plays it, so there is no way for it to move up the chart. I'm at the point where I am just BURNED OUT. I don't see his label or management doing a whole hell of a lot. When I can turn Anderson Cooper on and see Kellie Freakin' Pickler co-host his show twice in the past 2 weeks, you mean to tell me his management can't get him booked on anything on TV? He went to Fashion Week for a week, ok, I'm sure that was fun but Fashion Police was the best they could do while he was in NY? There has been no consistency whatsoever in any of his promo all year. He goes to this country for one week, then to another country for a week, and so on and on. It just seems like they're booking any gig that gets thrown at them, just for the money at this point. And what good is a tour at this point? I hate to say it. So should he wait another 2 1/2 years to put out another album? Waiting 2 1/2 years after the first album, when he wasn't firmly established, wasn't such a great idea.
Now if he, and his fans, are satisfied with no radio, playing in smallish venues for the rest of his career, with the exception of a Queen appearance maybe once a year...I thought Adam wanted more? I thought that was the point of putting out an album "to appeal to radio." I mean, if he couldn't get anywhere in the UK, with Shoshanna working like she did, the publicity from the Queen shows, his second "debut" in the UK flopped, big time. NCOE went nowhere and US fans were a big component of the UK sales. This whole era just seems to be one big clusterfuck as far as promotion goes.

I agree this whole era has been confusing. I really do think, though, that there are forces at work here of which we have no idea. I think the push-back from radio (at least on the PD level, since a lot of DJs seem to love him) is huge. I think the stigma from AI is huge. And competition right now is just fierce.
I am really at a loss though to explain why his management isn't getting him TV promo spots. He may not have a hit song, but he is a pretty well-known celebrity and a fun and entertaining interview. And, honestly, I don't think he would turn any opportunity down.
I am hoping that things will start to happen after PLL, maybe November, and that his team just wasn't caught completely off-guard by what went down with Idol (because I really think he had it until some last minute shake-up)

Sage, you certainly have a appropriate user name. I agree with every word of your post. I'm totally burned out as well. And I thought the exact think about Kellie Picker ( in fact I think I even referred to her as "Kellie Freakin Pickler?!!!?" in my head when I saw the promo, lol) I keep hoping that we'll just get enough to get us revved up again but honestly, it's only been the fans on this board and their wonderful personalities that have kept me going. Any other person I would have been, "Ok, gave it my best but can't do this anymore. Hurts too much to care and our efforts seem to be pointless so I'll check out."
Your post also uses one of my all-time fave words: clusterfuck. Has there ever been a word that so perfectly describes a situation goes from bad to worse in so many mind-bogglingly different ways?
