Shanghai has been hailed as "Paris of the Orient" and "Pearl of Asia" throughout the past century, very much influenced by the west.

When 2012 was released, many fans thought that TFM would breakthough as a movie hit. But when the movie quickly faded away in North America and the song was not promoted here because it was a old-school power ballad, fans moved on. And Adam moved on to his music and FYE. In the meantime, 2012 Movie was a hit in Asia and with it TFM is a well-known song in several countries including China, Indonesia and the Philippines. It is interesting living in a global culture. I forget sometimes how complicated the world is. And, since I adore TFM, I am pleased someone else loves it.

One thing I can never get my head around is : Why he never does the panting on "Shady" ??? It's the punchline of the whole song !! The song is not complete without that glorious part . It sends me to .........Another place ....

Chinese TV looks a lot like American TV, except it has more Adam and that Chinese language thingy going on. It looked like subtitles on the screen. Were they in the same dialect as the spoken language?
Yes, they're subtitles on the screen. There're many many local dialect in China but the writing is all the same, like different accents here in the States but English is English. The hosts speak Mandarin Chinese, as do most of the Chinese TV, except some regional local TV programs.
