Q3 comment: Moved to Social Action Section of news.
I move a couple of other posts there too. Done! Thank you for calling my attention to this. As a UW Madison grad and animal over, it sickens me that this cruel research is taking place. I personalized my letter and was very vocal in my promise to withhold any further donations to the UW. I remember many years ago, my husband had to quit his job doing research at the Medical College of WI because of what they did to the research dogs and the sketchy way that that acquired these poor animals. The money just wasn't worth the grief. OK, back to Adam now. As Tim Gunn would say, "Carry on!" LOL, I love that you quoted Tiim Gunn, I really appreciate your help. I really hope this will help end their animal cruelty.

I was spoiled, growing up in the 60s (aghh) listening to pirate Radio Caroline in the Irish Sea with great DJs playing great music. Adam and his music has made me feel YOUNG again!

Aw, don't say arggh! I'm reminded of the t-shirt that reads: "I might be old, but I saw all the great bands." I was a *little* too young and too broke so I envy those who saw the greats (I'm still recovering from momtomany, Q3, and (was it?) nonotme saying they saw Hendrix??!!)

The behind-the-scenes recap of the preparations for Adam's talk show appearance in China was so moving. He was adorable on the show. Great performance and great audience! And, yay, Brian and Adam together on Twitter!
I also just watched online the 60 Minutes piece on Rodriguez that was discussed. I first heard Sixto Rodriguez's story about six years ago when Paolo Nutini did an awesome cover of his song "Sugar Man." I mostly know Rodriguez's music through the covers Paolo has done of several of his songs. I think he had a hand in helping reintroduce Rodriguez's music to a lot of (non-South African or Australian) people, before the Searching for Sugar Man documentary that's out now was put into works. They've since sung together and now Rodriguez covers Paolo in concert : ) Good music, especially music with a message, is timeless and will find its way, even if it's forty years later! Maybe Adam could cover Rodriguez, too, during his shows in South Africa.

Yes, I saw many of the greats from back in the day. And there is quite a bit of good music going on today. Adam, of course, but also lots of interesting and talented artists in small clubs. Go see them. Some of them will become the greats of today and tomorrow. I have found some local venues that bring in interesting musicians, young and old, known and not-so-known, and are not so overwhelmingly youth oriented that we oldsters stand out like oddities. Hope there are some similar venues near you. peace&love

Just need to stashed the kiddoes away for night out. It's a perpetual issue.

Ok guys. Now you have me thinking about miserable real life again, damn it! My eleven yr old son just started middle school and, as I expected the bullying is even worse there. He likes to be different and wears his hair long and is more smart than cool.He is so young and not at all emotionally mature. Yesterday he said, "I know, Mom, you tell me that their words say nothing about who I am, only about what kind of a person THEY are, but how am I supposed to keep telling myself that, and believe it, a hundred times a day?" I am mostly fearful of where this road will lead as he gets older... So, I debate. The easiest thing to do would be to advise him to cut the dang hair that makes him stand out as a target. But as a mom I am thrilled that he values being different and has the courage to continue being himself. As an Adam fan I certainly know the moral of the story. But I want it to be easier for him. I have been watching It Gets Better videos hoping to find one that focuses less on sexuality and more on bullying. The message is needed for so many other than LGBT youth. And he needs to hear it from someone other than Mom. Anyone know a song like At Seventeen (thank you for sharing that!) for young kids? Anyway, how about our boy, could a day get any better for an Adam fan?! kay do you remember the Roosevelt quote I posted few months ago and you liked? Here is one from his wife, which I hope will help your son with his confidence: "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent." Eleanor Roosevelt If he can see or hear this regularly, maybe can help him with his resilience in fending these bullies off. My children were never bullied but as a mother, I could imagine how terrible it would be to have your child experience this nearly every day. I truly feel for you and I wish your family keeps being strong and try not to waste good energy on things like this..your son is strong already because you are his shield and your son will only get stronger because of them..
