I remember a song by Janice Ian or something like that about being 17 and how awful it is. Somebody remember this with me and let me know the name of the song. I am getting old but this song got me through some things when I was young. I know some of you out there will remember it. I could relate to the song and knew someone else was experiencing the same things.

Did anyone just see the story about Rodriguez on 60 minutes? A musician from Detroit Mi who in the 70's sold two albums to critical acclaim but never had any success in the US.He became an icon in South Africa and sold millions of albums but he never knew it. He went on to live a very poor life as a general laborer, lived in a run down house with only a wood burning stove for heat. He is now being discovered all over again because of a documentary film made by a swedish film maker. It made me really sad because sometimes the music business in the US just doesn't know what it has. Sound familier?????? Where you thinking of Adam??I saw it too and I thought about Adam's legacy . The difference is that while Adam isn't like a Bruno Mars in the states in terms of record sales and radio play,he is well known in America. He is also well known around the world ,so there is a big difference from Rodriguez. BTW Rodrigues is such a modest man, a man who was a poor laborer who went on to get a degree in Philosophy.. pretty amazing.I was so impressed with him as a human being, just like I'm so impressed with Adam's character and humanity.

I remember it 'At Seventeen' was a very important song, and meant so much to so many young people. The feelings(lyrics) of rejection, of being an outsider were so raw and honest Janis Ian was Jewish and when she was quite a bit older, came out as a lesbian. If you have the time google her biography,so interesting.. as I read along,I kept thinking about Adam and the record business.

Yes, I was thinking of Adam. I know these are different times and Adam is well known. Its more about the albums having critical acclaim but not selling in the US. Rodriguez's music was very deep and mean't so much to the people of South Africa. Makes me happy he's getting a second chance. We know how much Adam is loved around the world and he's going to South Africa soon. Just made me think a little! :2tears:

I think I drove my DH a little crazy tonight ,after watching 60 minutes. I wanted my husband to describe Adam's legacy, how his music has saved lives, etc. My husband finally said I don't think about Adam like you do and I have no idea how he will be perceived in the future..With that he went in the other room to watch something else. It's not easy living with an obsessed woman. Oh by the way Janis Ian didn't have an easy time with the record business or radio either..I hate RADIO

On the road all day. Just time to duck in and ask who won that guitar round - Brian or Hendricks?

Radio sucks and I think its really changed since I listened to it regularily. I was watching an info commercial last night about sixties music. You know, the Time Life collections. Back then the radio played everybody. There were hundreds of bands. Between the British invasion and US music, the variety was amazing. Groups, duos, single artists of all genres. It was an amazing time in music.

[/IMG] Add in planning our stalking berting route.... and I think it's covered!!! ;D
Best guess based on flights and times, is that Adam leaves LAX tonight on Air New Zealand #19 and arrives Auckland at 7:15 am on Tuesday. BUT...if he left yesterday...he's on a United flight. They have the shortest times...and he would arrive on Monday in Auckland. You NZ GlitterTribe BB's.....have the best time EVAH!!
Awwww Thanks.... I know we will!!!! Not sure when he's arriving... we tend to think Wed morning NZ time cos nothing planned that we know of Wed morn yet.... I am picking up friends from the domestic airport but will be at the international airport earlier along with other NZGT peeps hoping to see him arrive. We wanna show him some real kiwi love while he's here!!!! If it is Tues morn, can't see many people being at the airport unfortunately. Logistics are interesting at the moment ..... Rival stations ZM and The Edge both have Adam in studio Thurs morn.... ZM says he's co-hosting between 7-8.15am but the Edge says he's there at 8.10am!!!! LOL!!!! We will be meeting him at outside ZM to see him arrive there, then dashing a couple of kilometres away to see him arrive at the Edge!!! Some fans are being invited up to the Edge studio too..... Am expecting to be included!!!! Gonna be fun but exhausting!!!! I have 3 NZGT friends staying with me for 2-3 nights, then off to Melbourne for the weekend.... can't see much sleep being had this week!!!!!!
