This is not a "fun" thread, which is why we all still hang out most of the time in the main thread, ;D and that's okay, numbers, radio & industry stuff aren't everyone's cup of tea.
With the year winding down, there aren't many new noteworthy numbers to post, which is why I've brought in some industry news and numbers (normally, they would go to the Industry, Radio & Strategy thread). It's important to be aware of the general climate of the music industry, its ever changing business model in the digital world, and the possible directions it is heading, when we discuss Adam's numbers and endeavors.
Happy Turkey Day!

So Xtina's final numbers on BB200 7 * AGUILERA*CHRISTINA LOTUS 72573
I am really shocked that she didn't do better than this given this is the week just before Black Friday and the level of exposure she has. I haven't listened to the album but I thought it was being received better than Bionic so I thought she'd do better than this.
I think it makes Adam's numbers look much better when you realize that he did better than this with very little exposure and in a very slow sales period of the year. Does likeability make that much difference?

Does likeability make that much difference? Apparently it does! With her exposure on the Voice, plus her part on Moves Like Jagger, this number is horrible!! I would say she has zero original fanbase left! And yes, this album has had good critical review! :-/ It makes me curious what RCA will do because she has been one of their premiere artists and this makes 2 albums in a row that appear to be tanking!

You know she never toured Bionic. I wonder if she has a 360 deal with RCA so that's why she needed to take the break from the Voice and tour.

They have all kind of pretended Bionic never happened!

I don't think Xtina has a 360 with RCA, no source just my speculation. When she made that comment about touring in Sep way before the release of Lotus, I'm guessing she might have foreseen a better prospect, considering her nowadays visibility and popularity as opposed to back when Bionic was released in 2010. From RollingStone, " Aguilera called off a planned 2010 tour in support of Bionic, but she hopes she will tour behind this album. 'We are thinking about that,' she says. ' But with my schedule everything is complicated – and it's a whole different ballgame now that I have a son. So, again, we'll do that on my own terms and within due time.' " (see entire article here www.rollingstone.com/music/news/christina-aguilera-says-lotus-lp-will-be-multi-layered-heartfelt-20121019#ixzz29lmr5lGi )
Here is another article, "What happened to Christina Aguilera?" from www.digitalspy.com/music/thesound/a439874/what-happened-to-christina-aguilera.html. In a nutshell, it offers following speculation/analysis:
1). She doesn't have the right material. 2). She's better known as a TV star than a popstar. 3). She didn't promote Lotus enough. 4). She's unlikeable. (although she does have over 2.6mil twitter followers)
I agreed to large extent, read the article and see what you think...
Xtina is a very established and talented artist; she has released 7 studio albums and 5 of which have gone platinum, except Bionic (312,000 copies sold in the US, to date), and maybe Lotus (we'll see...). Guess, not all TV judges are lucky as Levine --- super catchy songs help!!
ETA: Should be very interesting when next year's IDOL judges gate starts again...the pros and cons debate among us fans.

It's nothing gets you jumping up and down for, nonetheless, a number in the right direction considering TSP has been hovering between 1400s and 2800s on Amazon US, lately, and it might be a good reference point comparing before & after the VH1 gig:
Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #808 in Music
Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #672 in Music
