Hey guys just checking in from VA! What a CRAZY day! I'm not at all sure how, but we escaped unscathed. It was like our neighborhood had a huge bubble around it. In July, there was a storm that came through and knocked power out for a few weeks for some of us. We were ready for the worst... it never came. There isn't even a tree down. I'm astonished since the winds were so strong and prolonged. Maybe the storm a few months ago already claimed the weakest trees? If we lived just 10 miles closer to DC it would have been a different story. Those poor folk got hit hard.
HSM - I got an email too about school in session! I'm glad they didn't cancel class, because other than a small group of homes in our neighborhood, we have zero issues. I too took my mini-me out for lunch today, she had cabin fever having to live in the basement for a day. I had snowmaggeden flashbacks. *shudder*

Glad to hear and see everybody is safe and will do fine. These acts of nature are horrifying. Bamafan is still trying to recoup, 2 years later after the hurricane went thru Alabama.

I'm fine here, thank you! The wind was actually worse last night than the week before. No damage to my house or any in the neighborhood. Unfortunately my legal assistant's childhood home on Long Island flooded. Her mother was not at home (she's been in and out of the hospital the past few months) but her brother was there and had not heeded the evacuation warning. He was unharmed but they have a big cleanup ahead.

I had an email from Sandysva this afternoon and she is fine and didn't have any damage at her house close to E coast in Virginia. She did say that she couldn't go to work because the neighborhood street had flooded. I'm worried about Vistadiva in NJ. She hasn't tweeted today. ETA. Saw where Sandy posted just before I did.

Everything is good here in Philly but my mother is not sure when she will be let back into her NJ shore town to see if her house is OK. It is on a high point of the island so we are hoping for the best.
