Keith Boykin þ@keithboykin Romney wins North Carolina. That's his first swing state. RT @ap AP RACE CALL: Romney wins North Carolina. #Election2012

I didn't mean for you to defend yourself albiku. It's all good. But you point out a difference--American's are against any limit in freedom of speech (with some exceptions such as threats, slander etc). It's our right to say what we think. Burn our flag, say you hate the prez, blacks whatever. It takes a crime to be declared a hate crime.

As it is, I'm just amazed (and pleased) that it was a toss-up for so long. #littlesteps

But considering we are a country of over 300 million people the fact that some nut hangs an Obama dumby doesnt really repressent us as a whole. Awww, bb, no one said that. Of course the extremists don't represent the US as a whole, we all international people know that. But it's true that your extremists are really mouthy! IMHO, everyone should have a voice... except haters. Of course we have extremists and haters everywhere, they are not only in the US. But it amazes me how they are allowed to run rampant and do and say whatever they want. I just can't understand it (i.e. those Westboro nutcases). And all that random normal people sprouting hate towards black people, or muslims, or immigrants, or LGBT people... They have a strong voice, and they are vicious. I haven't seen anything like that anywhere else. Here in Spain, there are people who think like that, but they almost never say it out loud because they would get eaten. I love the US. I've visited, I have friends over there. It's a beautiful country full of nuances and wonderful people. But some situations I just can't understand, even if I know those don't represent the US as a whole. I don't know if I'm explaining myself. I don't want to offend anyone or anything. :-/ As I said, I love the US. It's just the fact that certain people are allowed to have a voice and keep influencing other people when their ideas are so hateful. It's one thing to say that a marriage should be between a man and a woman, and another very different to say that gay people should die of AIDS because "God doesn't approve of them". Some opinions are NOT okay, freedom of speech be damned. This is just my opinion and, as I said before, it's not my intention to offend anyone. :-/ Hugs from Spain!
There is some dispute as to who originated this quote, but it describes quite well how the US operates, re: free speech - I disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it. Heaven knows that I have railed against what haters have said, but knowing that they would also find my speech offensive I can't say I want to change this particular "freedom" - I just continue to hope for a return to sanity and civility in general. There will always be the crazies among us.

Latinos and women for the win. They are saying it is doubtful that Rep can win any presidential election with the strength of these factions.

Bill O'Reilly summing up the consensus Right a few seconds ago on Fox. "The white establishment is now the minority. And, the voters, many of them, feel that the economic system is stacked against them, and they want stuff. You're going to see a tremendous Hispanic vote for President Obama. Overwhelming black vote for President Obama. And women will probably break President Obama's way. People feel that they are entitled to things and which candidate between the two is going to give them things?" Damn - I wish I knew where to get all that great free stuff - as a woman, I sure could use it :-)

California and Washington for Obama, Obama is winning right now.
But how is it possible if they didn't even count the California and Washington votes? :dunno:

They are saying it is doubtful that Rep can win any presidential election with the strength of these factions. @pourmecoffee Fun Fact: The blacks and Hispanics you are hearing pundits say are winning it for Obama are also known simply as Americans. @rishadt: the Republicans are realizing that these brown, black, yellow, gay, and women folk actually vote! @alexsteffen Turns out declaring war on science, reason, choice + tolerance may not be the rallying platform the American people have been looking for... Days like today I fucking love Twitter!
