Hmmm..... Plan B established a committee whose members' names are not made public, supposedly to protect them from record-industry pressure. The group is allowed to overrule the membership's nominations for its four biggest awards: album of the year, record of the year, song of the year, and best new artist. They take out nominations that might embarrass the academy—one official has hinted that "Macarena" might otherwise have been nominated one year—and replace them with artists they think are more deserving or, more importantly, who will bring in more viewers to the TV show. KE$HA's 2nd album predicted to debut with 80-85K in one of the busiest and best weeks of the year. So, anyone that thinks radio play and big i-tunes singles are the answer, think again! :-/

Interesting Grammy article. It certainly explains why all the usual suspects dominate the big four categories just like they dominate the airways. It is all for TV ratings rather than honoring art. This diminishes the value of winning this award a lot.

I have been searching for VH1 channel and or show on my Canadian TV stations/listings. Anyone have any luck?
and can point me in the right direction. Could be I do not have that as part of my cable package. (I can never view any VH1 videos etc that are posted; it could be they don't care about us... out of country folk ie. Canadians. haha A few days late, though. mmadamimadamm @mmadamimadamm From IDF... Animal did sell platinum, but her singles really flew off the shelf so to speak. I think Tik Toc sold almost 13 million world wide. When you are selling singles like that, album sales are less important. I agree that this is not an impressive debut. |

Eeeep... OT, but some of the damage from this is only a few miles from me. I've been sitting through this really bad storm and didn't realise this was happening

We rarely get tornadoes here :( Wow. Not sure if not knowing is good..."ignorance is bliss" and being warned to evauate as a precaution. Tornadoes has wiped out some of the ATOP'rs homes here in the US. Today I also saw that over 400 people were killed due to a typhoon in the Philippines. Some strange weather occurrences and intensities are occurring. Today, I was watching a show on the science channel , on a new theory that is generally accepted by the scientific community on the creation of earth and our moon. There is also speculation that general climate warming happens every 3000 to 4000 years, and we might currently be in that cycle. So weather phenomenon that we do not typically see are being seen in highly unlikely areas. And where weather phenomenom do occur they are more likely to be extreme. So Catz, glad you are safe and have a drink on me. |
