Dr. Brian May @drbrianmay“@carolambs: Adam didnt get a grammy nom." Well don't be too sad. Neither did the Beatles (except a film score), or Queen - ever !!! So ... Getting a Grammy nomination is good, winning it is great, but I love what Brian said in here. Adam doesn't need to depend on this grammy thing to success, just see the Beatles and Queen ;D

[/IMG]
I am another non-fan of Kelly. Although she has a good voice and I really liked her on Idol, I also got tired of hearing her constantly everywhere and to be honest, her songs sound just like every other female pop singer. Seriously, I cannot tell the difference between her songs, Katy's, Taylor's, Demi's, Miley's, etc. There is nothing special about her music, IMO.
Kelly's biggest hits aren't her best songs that's for sure. You'd have to get her albums to know why her music is special and you'd have to see her live. She's one of the most versatile singers around and 5 successful albums and countless hits has earned her respect in the industry that honestly no one believed was possible when she won idol in 2002. I hope that one day Adam is in a position for people to say they are tired of hearing him every five minutes on the radio.

I feel that you saying this delegitimizes any future Grammy Adam might win or be nominated for. :( Not sure what this mean exactly but you cannot buy a Grammy, and you cannot promote voting for a nomination or win, and commercial success does not garner a Grammy. Adam was nominated in the Pop Music Field -- and Pop - Popular. Adam is young and has a long career ahead of him. I imagine he will eventually win a Grammy. And it will be valuable to Adam. For me, that is all that matters -- that Adam gets what he wants.

dropping by, skimming quickly to catch up- Drat! No Nom! Oh well, distracted by how great Trespassing is, how wonderful the photos always are, that I get to see him at the Warfield Dec 14th... Otherwise- Interesting article about PSY, but also says a lot about the music biz- music.yahoo.com/news/cashing-gangnam-styles-youtube-fame-103746853--finance.htmlre: Metacritic (someone mentioned them) - Arrggghh - they irritate me so - my son's last album was headed toward a score in the 80's with quite a few reviews when a small blog, but one that counts, liked the album, but didn't think it quite lived up to potential, so kind of low-balled them with the edges of OK-ness (60), and knocked them a chunk out of the 80's. Sometimes a minority opinion from 1 to 3 or so critics can really lower the average. And often they actually like the album, but just found a few things lacking. Ugh! Maybe it all works out in the end, but it often hurts a good album. Trespassing has a critics score of 66 and a users score of 7.7. FYE had a critics score of 71 and a users score of 8.5. If you sign up as a member you can add to the user score. Don't leave long comments - no one will read them. Add to the score and, maybe, if you must, leave a short comment along the lines of "Love this album!" Oh, and gender bending 1971 - Little Richard life.time.com/culture/little-richard-rare-photos-of-rock-and-rolls-original-wild-man/?iid=lb-gal-viewagn#7peace&love

And you can add loads of other artists to that list ... in fact list of who has never been nominated probably more impressive than list of who has - am sure plenty here can add names to Dr B's starter list ;D ;D ;D ;D Because seriously when drek like Taylor Swift's "We are never getting back together" (nails hello blackboard) is nominated then credibility pretty much goes out the window.

This result reminds me of other areas of life. I.e. when I was young and new in the US and I needed money, nobody wanted to give me a credit card. Now, that I don't need those cards, I get those application letters by the dozens in the mail.
Seems like the Grammy's work a bit the same way. If you could really use one to take your career forward, you have no chance getting one. Once you already made it, they will throw those Grammy's after you. Not that you won't be thankful at a later point in your career or feel the sting when you are notoriously ignored (see Brian May's message above), but you certainly are not relying on that anymore to define or further your career.
Adam has to earn everything the hard way and then some....no shortcuts for him, but his career is still building and he will eventually get there or better the rest of the country is going to catch up with where he already is.

Getting a Grammy nomination is good, winning it is great, but I love what Brian said in here. Adam doesn't need to depend on this grammy thing to success, just see the Beatles and Queen ;D May I add Jimi Hendrix who also never got a Grammy nomination. Adam has a Grammy nomination already. He has done what these 25 major artists never did: www.craveonline.com/music/articles/183049-25-biggest-grammy-snubs Led Zeppelin Queen Jimi Hendrix The Who The Doors Bob Marley Buddy Holly The Kinks Diana Ross Janis Joplin The Grateful Dead Lynyrd Skynrd Bjork Run DMC Guns N' Roses Public Enemy Sly & The Family Stone The Stooges Motley Crue Depeche Mode Notorious B.I.G. The Pretenders Oasis Journey Parliament/Funkadelic And one of my favorite people and musicians -- Neil Young -- one his first Grammy last year. I still remember the night A Taste of Honey beat Elvis Costello for Best New Artist (1978). But the all time worst winner is Milli Vanilli!! The worst nomination ever was "The Chipmunk Song" for Record of the Year in 1959.
