Amen (Note: Amen of the non-self-righteous-ignoramus-religious sort)

OK I've decided what I want from Saturday Night Live. I want a sexy moves dance off between Adam Lambert and Jemaine Clement of Flight of the Concords (as seen above). Like dueling banjos. Adam would win of course but Jemaine would at least hold his own. Please universe you know you want it.... Adam if you are reading this you know this could be seriously awesome. Does anyone here know anyone at SNL? The dance off could be for some hot 40 year old women. And none of them would pay attention to Jemaine, so he would get more and more desperate. Small claps maybe. Then adam would do something small and they'd all scream and Adam would just look at Jemaine, raise his eyebrows and shrug. They'd all pay attention to Adam. Then Sauli could come on for one second and ask Adam if he's ready to go and Adam would walk off with Sauli and the screaming would only get louder as he walks off set with his man. Ahhhh this has to happen.

Mys*&@^#r50, albiku, juniemoon, nonchallance, LindaG23, Cassie, FanofTheMan, Craazyforadam,Kay,irish1139,adamrocks and all
I thank you all with the bottom of my heart for sharing your opinions about a 'great voice'. They warmed my heart :2tears:
I've come to a conclusion that people who don't get Adam's voice don't really care about singing techniques. The balanced tone of Adam's voice doesn't sound too good or pleasant to their ears. Instead, the sharper tone of Freddie's voice and some Jazz or soul singers' unique tone and singing style impress them more. Things like vibrato, head voice, the register shift, the breath control and so on they don't pay attention at all.
It is really funny when I play Adam singing opera or theater stuff they all got impressed and think he is only good at singing those.
Again, thank you all.

Kay, we are not disagreeing. You are a fan of Adam's singing based on your personal taste, because you love his music, voice, etc.
Totally fine, but obviously this does not rule out that the next person has a different taste and therefore says 'no' to the same thing you enjoy. The question was whether beyond the question of personal preference there are also objective criteria that can be used to say a voice is good or great. And yes, there are.
But that will not help you when in a discussion with somebody who is ignorant though.
Bottom-line, I don't know of any person who is knowledgeable in the field of vocals and says that Adam cannot sing. I have only heard that from laymen (because they don't know what they are talking about).
But of course many people can enjoy certain music without any formal music education. That would be pretty sad otherwise. Hope that makes my point a bit clearer.
