See, Adam loves us. Why do I always feel like he means it? And I really do feel it. It feels warm and squishie. Because he doesn't say things he doesn't mean This. Like many have said before me, I came for the voice and stayed for the man. He is truly the gift that keeps on giving. What a surprise and delight to discover that in my middle age, when I felt jaded, that I'd seen it all, that there was nothing that could really capture my fancy beyond my immediate circle of friends and loved ones, that I could be so totally blind sided by love for a stranger that I will likely never meet. Adam has allowed me to redefine joy, embrace life, feel wonderment again. Beyond his extraordinary voice that pierces my heart and moves me to tears, I have come to value this man for who he is. If he were to lose the capacity to sing (heaven forbid), I would still remain a devotee and follow his comings and goings for the remainder of my life because he is just so. much. more.

Coming in late at the end of this thread, but Vikkisussane, what you say about Adam and your response to him is just how I feel also. I think I'm one of the older Atopers here, almost old enough to be his grandma, but he has given me such joy and a renewed interest in learning and exploring new ideas and concepts. While my physical body is now beginning to age, my mind and spirit are as alive as ever, thanks in good part to Adam. Like all of us, Adam will age and at some point may not have the glorious voice he now has...but I don't think that will be the end for him. In the way he encourages other artists and young people who are struggling with their identities, I believe Adam is a gift that will keep on giving throughout his life. His creativity and loving spirit will continue beyond his voice. We are all so fortunate to be sharing our time on this planet with this very special soul. Finally, in his liner notes on his Trespassing album, he thanks and acknowledges many people, including "Big Love for Grandma Annette and Grandma Ora Marie". Good for him! This is just one more reason why this old grandma is so devoted to him.

When people I know comment about Adam's singing it's usually their disappointment that he went the pop route. I always say that that is a part of it but that he has quite a catalog of other styles. Usually it boils down to them not liking his "style" rather then not liking his voice. But, my husband, who was a long time coming over to my side, says he has never in his life seen a better live performance. Adam is an ENTERTAINER and that includes his voices but there is more to it then that. I find him hard to define and therefore hard to explain my fan devotion. But, I'm glad for my Adam addiction.
