From Adam's Instagram: realadamlambertDiet starts tomorrow. Actually, next year. Today I'm eatin dads pancakes. I can't even imagine the taste of maple syrup. I so wish I could. And I assume he is warming it up? I stared at the pancake for good 5 minutes, analyzing the shape. I think I could assume what they would taste like. It is a pancake in the pan, right? Here we have crepes and we eat it with nutella. #culinarydifferences ha..i so KNOW what you are talking about!!! yes to palacinke and nutella. maple syrup is like not so strong honey, but sweeter...like melted sugar...i did not take to it, still prefer jam with mine. (just for you - my family was celebrating st nikola the other day - all with pitije, sarma, ruska salata i peceno prase.....we do it every year, it is so funny, cos all of that heavy food eaten on a hot summer day is not a good idea)....yesterday i watched srpski tv at my mum's - they were playing old songs - azra, balasevic, parni valjak, dugme etc....almost made me cry....if i miss anything, it is music...we were so lucky to have such a great music to grow up to....remember zabranjeno pusenje? i go back and listen to their stuff almost 20 years later and it is current as it was then..... sorry for OT non adam post!!!! xoxox

Nostalgia is also something I would know nothing about. But I wish I was in your place and I think you very well know why. All the beautiful music you listed - it can hardly be heard on our TV any more. So don't worry, you aren't missing anything good :D We celebrate St Nikola too! But we had a lean feast, with fish and beans and meatless sarma, you know the drill! I cannot believe you had peceno prase ( would that be roast pig in English?) in the middle of summer, lol... How on earth did you survive ;D I ja placem kad slusam Balasevica i Azru i Valjak, drugarice

Yummmmmmmmm...... Maple syrup...... :D
We're a little too far south to produce much here, but there's enough Sugar Maples here that all the local Nature Centers have maple sugaring demonstrations and festivals every year.
Actually, I learned last year that you can make syrup out of several different trees. I tried (I think) hickory syrup, walnut syrup, and...locust??
[grins] I thought all the non-maples were pretty awful. There's a reason SugarMaples are used!

OH, Aleks you're precious! Maple syrup is very good, but sweet. Yes, that is a pancake. Usually they're more round in shape, but Eber's looks a little "unique" LOL They're heavier than a crepe....more cake like. The more maple syrup you pour on top, the sweeter they become. Pancakes are popular down here in the South. My favorites are made with buttermilk. A nice breakfast would be a "stack" of buttermilk pancakes (I can't eat more than 2 or 3) a scoop of butter on top, served with maple syrup, with a side of link or patty pork sausage or bacon and a couple of eggs (usually scrambled) You can add your favorites, like blueberries, chocolate chips, etc. to the batter before cooking. Most people eat them plain, with lots of syrup. Yummy! ;D Ok, buttermilk? Never heard :4OMG: Bamafan, you are confusing the daisies outta me: If maple syrup is sweet, why are you having sausages and bacon on the side?

It's the kind they add sugar to that is sweet. Aleks, they are like a little cake made in a small fry pan or griddle=Pancake! Light and fluffy. I also love them with sausage because sausage with maple syrup is sooooooooooooo good!!
