Wednesday - Check in Day
I almost forgot.
Still taking my AVC, yes chappy, it is a bit sour even with the honey. whew lol. I'm consoling myself with weight gain, yeah oh yeah, with increased muscle mass. grrrr Oh, ok the banana/beet bread I made today may be part of it. Looks just like meatloaf because the beets turn the crust red.
Hope everyone doing better than I!

YAY!! Think I am back on track. Down 3.3 from last week and not just from switching scales. My new scale give body fat % as well as body water %. The BF% was almost exactly in line with the MBFC result. That's the calculator on the Fat2fit site that I was using. Going to be really bad tomorrow though because roommates and I are going to a Movie Marathon at Pleasure Island of all the Iron Man movies so I'll be eating junk ALL day. LOL

That's amazing progress, rihannsu! I feel off the track but am trying not to get discouraged. I got in 4x of exercise last week. I missed one time because of the nerve pain. I would like this to ease up soon! Tomorrow I finally get my farm box delivery again. Yay! I did go to the farmer's market on Sunday and got some stuff to tide me over. I sure do love swiss chard. If you like spinach or broccoli, try it, it's really great. I also got some tomatoes and some grape fruit. I admit I've fallen off the wagon on the breakfast smoothies and need to get back on board. I did manage to keep to my goal of cutting out a couple of lattes. Overall, I feel I've been taking the path of least resistance most days. One thing I am excited about is that a new farmer's market is opening up very close to my house on Saturdays, so I will have a lot of easy access to good things. I read an interesting thing in the new National Geographic story on longevity. The whole story is fascinating. New Clues to a Longer LifeHere is what caught my eye: For example, people who live into their 90s and beyond tend to possess a particular version, or allele, of a gene important to taste and digestion. This allele not only gives people a taste for bitter foods like broccoli and field greens, which are typically rich in compounds known as polyphenols that promote cellular health, but also allows cells in the intestine to extract nutrients more efficiently from food as it’s being digested.
It is interesting to realize how many of our health challenges are influenced by our DNA. On the plus side -- talk about inspiration!! Take a look at John Goodman! Hopefully this great man will be with us a lot longer.

Rihannsu, congratulations! Excellent week for you! So sorry to hear about your continued nerve pain Juniemoon, must take a lot of the fun out of living at times. Hope you get better soon, Jablea. Too bad that cold is not helping with the weight loss, which is usually what happens with me. In fact that's how I finally got going on this weight loss project. I was sick and it gave me an "easy" start. Had a good week, down 2.2 lbs! I'm actually a bit surprised it was that much, as I had a real nibbly day on Monday, and chocolate was definitely part of it, but on the whole I'm managing to hang in there. Except for .2 lbs, I am now 1/3 of the way to my goal. At this rate it's going to take me 2 years instead of 1, so we'll see how I'm doing as the summer progresses. Part of my job involves baking for breakfast items and there's always left over so I do allow myself one of something a day when baking happened, and then make lunch a very light meal. Yesterday I just had green grapes, a raw carrot and a granola type bar, so I could have a piece of rhubarb crumble! Hope everyone is having a good week too! Got lost in the May Day vids everyone was posting but better get some work done now!

Well, here it is another week and I still can't seem to get it together. Am seriously considering going back to Weight Watchers to check out what they are up to. Think I need to make some diet changes since I'm really out-of-control! Gained a pound this week and deserved it. Ugh!

Monday - Orange Juice
Ok, I've heard it has too much sugar and not enough Vitamin C to make a big difference but if it can hold off scurvy and keep your teeth from falling out it's got to be good. Plus it feels good on my throat which after two weeks still pulses with rawness now and then. Good thing I don't have to talk out loud all day.

Tuesday - Push something around dayMy trainer had me pushing what he calls a "sled" out on the parking lot yesterday. It's this heavy metal skid with a push bar and a place for him to add weight. For home, get yourself a cardboard box and fill it with something heavy (could use the laundry basket too). Or if you have a walk behind mower, turn it off, and push it around the yard.

Those are such great smilies, chapf! So cute and delightful!
I got in 4x of exercise this week. OK, but not back to where I want to be. I am back to my healthy eating also with tons of fresh veggies on hand. I have had very nice salad, and this week I got green tomatoes for the first time. I tried an old country recipe that may not have been low fat but it sure was good and fresh tasting -- and easy! Also broccoli salad. Tonight I'm trying a new recipe for carrots.
I am happy with this lifestyle change with the veggies, but working on more ... what I really need is a more active lifestyle that is more flexible and quite frankly more happy. I'm working on it.
