Just to show the fluctuations in weight loss I calculated my weight loss by month

In total I have lost 29 lbs since I started tracking at the first of the year but as you can see there has been nothing smooth and steady to it. One of the biggest battles is I think training your mind to accept the rollercoaster nature of weight loss and not let yourself get psyched out by the bouncing numbers.
My measurement numbers have also bounced around a lot and yet I had to go out and buy new work pants so my pants wouldn't be falling down all day. But a word of caution also about sizes in clothes. Don't get hung up on what size you are in either. I bought some tops last week, t-shirt and tank style. The T-shirt style I got in size 4-6 but the tank top style I had to get size 12-14. A full two sizes difference just from one style of shirt to another. The pants I bought I am down to a size 8-10 in the same brand that I started out at 12-14.
But for me the really important thing is that compared to December I feel so much incredibly better overall that regardless of what the scale or the tape measure say I feel I have made incredible changes and am encouraged to keep going. I'm refusing to even set a goal other than simply making some kind of progress over time. As long as I am heading in the right direction overall I no longer care how long it might take me to get there. Life is a journey and it's not about the destination it's about the process. I don't have any absolute restrictions on my diet, I just try to stay within my numbers according to my activity but if I really want something I have it. But just thinking about it a little and being aware of how much calories are in what I am eating makes me think twice about whether I REALLY want it that bad and I've discovered that I rarely want something bad enough to really blow myself off track. That and the fact that I haven't forbidden myself anything is really working for me. I know it might not work for everyone but we all have to find our own little tricks to staying on track.
The thing that all my playing with numbers has shown me is that the calorie level I have set myself for now is going to be the level I will be eating at to maintain once I reach what the numbers say my goal weight should be so I know I will be able to maintain once I get there because I'll have all this practice. Because this is not really a diet but simply learning how to eat at the level I should be all the time.
Good luck everybody
