I'm not sure anyone here is taking a puritan attitude toward her, but rather just wondering how she escapes being treated that way by the press, given how quick they are to attach labels to other celebrities, especially women, based on their relationships and dating habits.

I agree, I'm not quite getting the argument put forth in other posts that Taylor is a tramp and should be treated that way by the media and that if Adam was also acting tramping he should get a pass. Or to put it another way that a 23 year old female who has extensively dated is a tramp but a 23 year old man who also extensively dated is not a tramp.

Actually what is being discussed is how public perception of the person bears no resemblance to their "actual" behavior. Public perception of Miley Cyrus is that she is a slut, yet she has been engaged for 3 years to the same guy but public perception of Taylor is that she is sweet and innocent despite being involved (at whatever level) with many many guys. The general public perception of gay men in the US tends to be that they are promiscuous and deviant so it is quite possible even likely that had Adam had a similar public dating history it would amount to a negative influence on public perception of him even if the media is not specifically nasty about it.

There are many people who once they form an initial view of someone never change it or only change after great amounts of contradicting info. People who mainly saw Adam's AMA performance for instance and formed a negative opinion from that are often hard to convince that they are wrong about him. This is actually typical. Quick assessment and generalization are common and can be a useful tool but it is something completely different when you talk about the ability to adjust to new information. Some people are very hide bound and resist change so their opinions are hard to shift, the extreme opposite would those whose opinions change moment to moment. The ideal to me is somewhere in between.

TS is high profile as well as the men she hangs around with....of course, it's going to create buzz. Good for her and going out and having fun. Can't say I've been married for 40 years -- back in my day, we all just lived together

I was over 34 once I settled down and the reason we are still together is dh likes difficult women who speak their mind. Although, I must say, I don't appreciate some of the generalizations made of we "woman of a certain generation". Live and let live......I think someone we all love and adore has said that a few times.

I agree with pretty much everything he said here. Hugh Jackman is no Colm Wilkinson, and while he may do well in some musicals, he was just not right for Valjean. His singing made my skin itch. Same with Crowe and the girl playing Cosette. Anne was one of the very few good parts of that movie. And still can't figure why they felt a need to add "Suddenly." Such a waste of space, serving nothing to add to the story, and they shortened at least three songs that would have helped to flesh out scenes.

Could you give me an example of legitimate (non-perez or TMZ) media source who has labeled any woman a slut for serial dating?

I find it's usually it's the "morality police" of internet commentators who throw around these judgments.

Taylor, by all accounts, is a "good girl" by Hollywood standards. She's never in the clubs getting in fights, she's not being arrested for DUI or shop lifting or any other felony that she'll later get a reduced sentence for. She's dating. That's what a girl her age SHOULD be doing.

I didn't really know who I was or what I wanted in a relationship until I was at least 25 and I had A LOT of fun figuring it out. I say good for Taylor!

Oh I am so sorry to hear that - I have been waiting so eagerly for this movie. :'(

In Germany it will be starting next March.... so is it still a good movie????

I figure celebrities have the right to keep their personal lives as private as they want. But I'm not a fan of either Taylor Swift's voice or her propensity to flaunt her relationships and use them as song input, and I'm tired of her seemingly endless parade of breakup songs.

Why is she being vilified for dating a lot of men? Is it because she's a girl and should keep herself chaste? This meme reminds me of the shit storm Kristen Stewart went through for the affair with the married man...She bore the brunt of the media fire even though she wasn't the one married.

Women will always be subjected to a horrid double standard and it's usually from other women. Sad.

for the record, dating is what people do until they find the right one.

And since her management promotes her celebrity dating so much, most of my post came from official Taylor Swift press materials.

I have not "vilified" or been critical of Taylor Swift for dating a lot of celebrities. I just tried to make a simple point.

My point: Taylor has actually dated a lot of celebrities in the past 4 years and it has been noted by many people in the press, her fans, even by Taylor herself. It is not a perception made by people from "another generation".

Then I posed a simple question, how would this be reported if Adam did it? I do not think the press would be as kind to him. Or just replace the name with almost any other young female singer -- Miley Cyrus for example. The story would be different.
