adamlambert Les Mis: Visually impressive w great Emotional performances. But the score suffered massively with great actors PRETENDING to be singers. adamlambert ...it's an opera. Hollywoods movie musicals treat the singing as the last priority. (Dreamgirls was good) adamlambert Anne Hathaway as Fantine and Enjolras were the exceptions for me. adamlambert Helena B Carter and Sasha B Cohen were great too. adamlambert And I do think it was cool they were singing live- but with that cast, they should have studio recorded and sweetened the vocals. adamlambert Eponine's voice was cool too... adamlambert I felt like I should ignore the vocals and focus on the emotional subtext- but the singing was so distracting at times it pulled me out. adamlambert The industry will say "these actors were so brave to attempt singing this score live"but why not cast actors who could actually sound good? adamlambert Sorry for being so harsh but it's so True! Adam is right on target.. MY DH and I left before the film was over couldn't take the singing any more, actors who can sing a bit rather than singers who can act..It belongs on the stage . I love Adam's honesty. I really think there is a lot of hype for a film that is a bit of a travesty.. It downgrades one of the best musical scores ever produced.. What's next .. Kesha ,Minaj in leads....they really can't sing well or act.. PERFECT. :4OMG: :4OMG:

I think he's been spending too much time around Neil. Everyone did a great job, Hugh Jackman has won awards for singing. I feel like if someone other than Adam had said that then the response here wouldn't have been "you go gurl!! realness!!"

I haven't seen LesMiz yet but I will. It seems many, if not most, film critics pretty much agree with Adam's analysis. The one from Herald Tribune gave it 1.5 out of 5 stars. This is an operatic musical and vocals should be primary. After I see the film I'll decide if I thought they were or not.
It's amazing to me though how the websites that picked up his tweets completely mis-characterized his opinions as "trashing" & "slamming" the film. He did neither. Anything for hits. LOL I guess the time to worry is when they stop using him for hits.

I can't speak for others, but my opinion was put to electrical ink Friday, so . . . .lol And yeah, Jackman can sing, there is no denying that. But just because one can sing, or act, doesn't mean that they fit every part/song.
