Adam said in the interview in Vietnam that his music is not very popular in the USA. I'm just thinking, is it maybe that he focused on the wrong songs, namely Trespassing and NCYE? What if he made a music video of say Runnin' or Nirvana, which is much slower? Or even focussing on both a faster and a slower song.
I personally love every single song on his album, each have their own vibe and emotion. For a non-fan its not like that. They need something to get them to listen to at least one song, but which song will do that? It seems Trespassing and NCYE or BTIKM didn't do it? I'm just wondering ...

This is what Adam said in that interview, "think definitely with the music stuff I'm different, I'm not the normal guy, especially in the US and it does Come up in my music and so I think it's been an interesting thing trying to convince people".
It would be unwise, and unlike him, to call out his own music unpopular in the US, perception is everything in the show biz. It's the same thing when some interviewers said to him Trespassing had done extremely well, he would always say something like, "oh yeah, it hit #1 on BB", instead of "oh, no, only the first week....".

Trespassing and Cuckoo could both have fit very well into the Top 40/HAC format. I had a lengthy talk about radio last week with my DJ friend (he works at a Chicago HAC station which may as well be a Top 40 station these days). He told me that in terms of music "anything goes" with radio right now. He said there is more variety right now on Top 40 radio than there has been in years with the mix of dance, rap, boy bands, Disney girls, Country cross-over, and Indie pop (and Adele, lol). He was really high on FUN and told me that Nate Reuss will be the next big break-out star (apparently he is "featured" on Pink's next single and she LOVES him). This guy also said that radio play is more competitive than ever. Anyway, I didn't ask him anything specifically about Adam (yeah, I am still a "closet fan" and it would have taken me many drinks to get that bold) but he doesn't have great things to say about the reality singing thing, and I think that is the general feeling of his station. I just think now is when DMG really needs to kick things into gear and get Adam some key "exposure opportunities" in the US. And they need to keep working on expanding his demographic in this country. I think they are on the right track.

I am really into MAP at the moment. What a fabulous song. I so believe it is a love song to us, his glamberts. I like to juxtapose Runnin' with Map, as the before and after, respectively. And I think the pop masses should love Naked Love. I know, I know people just can't take a gay guy singing something like that.

And they need to keep working on expanding his demographic in this country. I think they are on the right track. I think you make a good point. With respect to FUN guy - had a chat in vocal masterclass thread last year about him given he is being touted as such a great singer (check out his live stuff ahem ahem not so much), and it burns my ass that he gets instant cred because of his whole indie thing and just because Adam used AI as a platform to gain exposure (for very valid reasons) he doesn't get the same respect in some quarters... Will be interesting to see whether FUN survives Nate's personal buzz... I continue to maintain that having two of their songs featured in pimp spot on successive seasons of Glee hasn't hurt one little bit and given how supportive of LGBT stuff Glee is in general I am absolutely mystified why they haven't featured one of Adam's songs... maybe they are too hard for the "kids" to sing :
