I think if we are going to discuss Adam's quote we need to get the quote correct. It was from a VN interview posted at the end of last night's thread. The OP got the quote a little bit wrong. Maddie corrected it in this thread. The only problem with Adam getting radio play was RCA's choices and rollout, not Adam's music.

It's not the music. Trespassing and Cuckoo could both have fit very well into the Top 40/HAC format. I had a lengthy talk about radio last week with my DJ friend (he works at a Chicago HAC station which may as well be a Top 40 station these days). He told me that in terms of music "anything goes" with radio right now. He said there is more variety right now on Top 40 radio than there has been in years with the mix of dance, rap, boy bands, Disney girls, Country cross-over, and Indie pop (and Adele, lol). He was really high on FUN and told me that Nate Reuss will be the next big break-out star (apparently he is "featured" on Pink's next single and she LOVES him). This guy also said that radio play is more competitive than ever. Anyway, I didn't ask him anything specifically about Adam (yeah, I am still a "closet fan" and it would have taken me many drinks to get that bold) but he doesn't have great things to say about the reality singing thing, and I think that is the general feeling of his station. I just think now is when DMG really needs to kick things into gear and get Adam some key "exposure opportunities" in the US. And they need to keep working on expanding his demographic in this country. I think they are on the right track. I think you make a good point. With respect to FUN guy - had a chat in vocal masterclass thread last year about him given he is being touted as such a great singer (check out his live stuff ahem ahem not so much), and it burns my ass that he gets instant cred because of his whole indie thing and just because Adam used AI as a platform to gain exposure (for very valid reasons) he doesn't get the same respect in some quarters... Will be interesting to see whether FUN survives Nate's personal buzz... I continue to maintain that having two of their songs featured in pimp spot on successive seasons of Glee hasn't hurt one little bit and given how supportive of LGBT stuff Glee is in general I am absolutely mystified why they haven't featured one of Adam's songs... maybe they are too hard for the "kids" to sing : It will be interesting, my friend clearly thinks Nate is a star on the rise. We will see if FUN survives it, I guess. Adam needs to get a song on Glee. And it blows my mind that they have never used WWFM at least as they could have had a field day with that one. I just have to think that Adam's management is working on opportunities like this.

Nate and Fun are big already. He is not on the rise. His single was #3 in sales for 2012. The album got a Grammy nom.

Les Miz's soundtrack album will undoubtedly hit #1 this week on BB200 (see below HDD chart), and I call it "The Adam Lambert Effect"! (okay, not entirely... )

Adam said in the interview in Vietnam that his music is not very popular in the USA. I'm just thinking, is it maybe that he focused on the wrong songs, namely Trespassing and NCYE? What if he made a music video of say Runnin' or Nirvana, which is much slower? Or even focussing on both a faster and a slower song.
This is what Adam said in that interview, "think definitely with the music stuff I'm different, I'm not the normal guy, especially in the US and it does Come up in my music and so I think it's been an interesting thing trying to convince people".
It would be unwise, and unlike him, to call out his own music unpopular in the US, perception is everything in the show biz. It's the same thing when some interviewers said to him Trespassing had done extremely well, he would always say something like, "oh yeah, it hit #1 on BB", instead of "oh, no, only the first week....".
Sorry, I used the wrong words : I was just wondering if he used a slower song if it will appeal more. If you look at the Glamberts many of them are "older" women. I think it a very neglected market. I think the slower songs will definitely appeal to the "older" market. On the other hand the younger people want to jump and dance and look for something with a beat. This album also answer to that need. I personally think that Outlaws of Love can become one of those legendary songs that everybody knows the words and sang around campfires but I also understand why its not used as the "main" song. It's sad that such an awesome album don't get the credit it should get. It's the only album I want to hear every single song. If someone say to me to pick a song it's like "what, are you crazy, you can't pick one" Usually with other artists' albums I like one or two songs and will only listen to that. :-/

Did performing "Let's Have a Kiki" on Glee do anything for Scissor Sisters?

Just go ahead and sign him up for Foster and Friends with Michael Johns at that point.

This makes me feel better. I couldn't hear what Adam said. The Vietnamese translation said Adam's music wasn't popular in the US. Anyway this is the original source. It sounds a little better than the youtube version, but still I couldn't hear Adam clearly: thegioivanhoa.com.vn/nguoi_noi_tieng/17958/adam-lambert-mat-di-su-rieng-tu-khi-tham-gia-gioi-showbiz/
