Adam splitting with 19R is a good thing if it's what Adam wanted; it's a bad thing if it's not what he wanted And we'll never know the real answer to that...but I will choose to believe it's what Adam wanted. Personally I can't stand the whole idol machine and I am always happy when Adam moves farther away from it. I felt the same way when he split from the mgmt arm and signed with DMG. [whispers] And I'm one of very few fans that didn't want to see him sitting at the idol judge's table. So, yay! \o/ Besides, career-wise, circumstances always seem to work out in adam's favour, no matter what they seem initially. The universe is always looking out for him.

I think what we may be seeing is the legal consideration Adam received in exchange for being held hostage for all those months that AI dithered about whether or not they might add him to the judge's panel. When Adam seemed to be suspended in a holding pattern right at the time Trespassing needed a big promo launch, I kept wondering what they would have to give him to make him do that without any guarantee that he'd get the judge's gig at the end of the day. My bet is that what he was given was an agreement that 19R wouldn't renew their option. If that's so, it's a great reason to hang out in the new condo drinking $350/bottle champagne. Also a great reason to post the image of dancing kitty with $$ signs. This! You might be right. I always thought they would owe Adam big time for jerking him around last summer. Taking away 19R's cut is like Adam getting a big raise! I think you may be on to something here. This contract was signed in January 2009 -- so has nothing to do with the Idol judging stuff. There are no options. The AI Season 8 contract was filed in a court filing in California, and it is a 4 year term. Adam is not the first to leave 19R -- that would be Clay Aiken. Adam will not get a raise from this -- Sony will not have to pay 19R for future recordings. In an indirect way, Adam will make more money IF he has a profitable #3 album. If the album is in the red, won't make any difference.

Ending his contract term with 19R is a good thing for Adam. And I agree, things tend to work out for Adam but only because he works really hard, is so talented and seems to have many irons in the fire. I think he makes his own opportunities. But the universe does seem to watch out for him too!! ETA: OK, I will now stop spamming the thread.

Q3!Thanks so much for clarifying what all this stuff means! You can talk all day about this stuff and I'd be all *chinhands*. Just to beat it into the ground, though, beyond the original contract work or function 19R served, what do they do exactly? That's what's confusing for me. Like, do they serve as advocates for the idols at all?

Q3: Yes, the universe watches out for him BECAUSE he pours so much good into it. He creates his own opportunities, and he's rewarded for them. (I sound like total new age hippy or something. I'm really the most cynical, analytical person ever. But Adam makes me believe in good karma! )

Picked this up from another site. I couldn't find the original tweet from @oriharakaoru on either her or Lyndsey's feed, but you can see Lyndey's response on both.
Orihara Kaoru @oriharakaoru
@lyndseyparker What do you think of Adam splitting from 19R? Good or bad?
Lÿndsey Parker @lyndseyparker
@oriharakaoru He is still with RCA. He'll be fine. Not worried.

I asked a question that never got answered because Adam started his Twitter Forum & we kinda got distracted... ;D
Regarding the current judges on Idol, does anyone know how long their contracts are? 1 year? 2 years? I've just been thinking that perhaps an Idol judge spot for Adam is not out of the picture for next year. It seemed like Randy was a last minute addition to the panel so maybe he's only signed for another year as a judge?
Can anybody enlighten me? This may have been answered when all the judging hoopla happened in September. If so, I would appreciate a link to the conversation. Thanks!
