This is such a huge number compared with 10 years ago. The public sentiment is breaking on the side of gay marriage much faster than I expected. Slapdash, I think for a lot of people, the whole idea of gay marriage as a civil liberties issue is new. As they digest that they seem to come on board. I once thought gay marriage would not happen in my lifetime but I now think the barrier is about to fall.

Mayumi, so sorry to hear the news about Rene's passing. He sounds like a wonderful partner from what I have read here. Wishing you strength and wonderful memories.
Kay, you said it exactly! Wonderful post!

Mayumi, My deepest sympathy goes out to you and your family. I know very well what you are going through as I too lost my dear husband. I had the privilege to meet you at Wilkes Barre at the hotel and at the lovely Atop dinner.

The good news about support for marriage equality is that 81% of young people between 18-29 support it, so time is on equality's side. In fact, I read that gay activists think in is a done deal in the not so distant future. Proud that US has moved so quickly in the right direction.
Mayumi, so very sorry for your loss.
Cassie, thanks for setting up the Charity Water account.

I once thought gay marriage would not happen in my lifetime but I now think the barrier is about to fall. I agree! I don't have a means to gauge it but I sense progress, almost daily. And you are right Q3 and JUNIE, it helps that it is now seen as a civil liberty issue rather than a moral approval issue. Even my conservative Catholic friends (i am very inclusive lol) are along the lines of "as long as I don't have to see it then they can do what they want". That, of course is offensive but it's major progress and it's all we need to get marriage equality. I think having such widespread media, thus getting exposed to possitive gay images, has made the process faster than during the other civil right battles.
