yup, I think it was Adam's decision on this one. We all know what a perfectionist he is about his music. Recording 50 songs in order to have the album he wanted. Having multiple producers work on one track until it sounded like Adam envisioned. For LWOG, Adam flew into Vienna for one day in the studio, learned the song, tweaked it a bit, and recorded it. Basically a studio musician. Definitely not the way Adam likes to work. Also, in a recent interview Adam said he thought that EDM (electro-dance music) was on its way out, and, to me, LWOG sounds like EDM, and sounds rather dated. 

Of course as an uber fan of Adam, I would have been more than happy to buy the song. I would be more than happy to buy a CD/DVD of Queenbert or any/all of the WAG concerts. I would be more than happy to buy a CD made up of all his radio station acoustic appearances, just him and a guitar, singing without any sound system. Or, come to think of it, a CD of him singing in his shower. His voice, off the cuff, under/unrehearsed, on his worst day beats most anything out there. But, as we heard on the soundcheck of Chokehold, Adam is meticulous, exacting, and sweetly insistent on getting the sound he wants and needs, even when my ears don't hear much of any difference. I think Adam was not satisfied with the recording. Period. End of discussion. "Sorry, I will perform the hell out of the Life Ball, I will smile, I will be totally professional, I will pose for two thousand pictures, I will praise everyone involved in the experience, but, um, no, I won't authorize the release of this song.  Hope you are all okay with that (but if you aren't, I'm not gonna change my mind)."

I think this is why I will download a song unpaid. I waited for the song to purchase and give dollars to the cause... but that won't happen. So download here I come. So when artists and/or TPTB cry about people downloading I only feel half boo-hoo for them.

This is not a dig at Adam, so don't pile on me for any perceived negative comment here. Just me being truthful about when this type of thing happens. I feel the same way about things like the Queen Kiev, or well, any great concert where I want to pay to have my own copy but for whatever reason TPTB, no matter who they are, can't, don't want to, or are unable to make it happen. Hence, downloading of said material.

While I am on the subject... If PTB do make available for purchase an event then the need to also do it quick - when the fervor is at it's maximum and to get ahead of the curve. This is the digital age and TPTB will need to figure this out or perhaps don't care about loosing the smaller dollars in search of the big bucks. I just think that the future is in smaller dollars - but more of them versus trying to make a big bucks killing all at once. Ok, skimmed the thread and off now:-)

ETA" Looks up... yes I too think it was probably Adam's input for the reasons cited. Wouldn't want to confuse the simple minds... sad... but I sadly understand the logic. I do like the song and also understand this is not the direction of his new album from what we know:-)

And looking at the bright side instead of the all about me side: at least TPTB are not yanking it from YouTube....
