Also, I suspect Adam spent most of his NY trip meeting with high powered lawyers in preparation for this.  (P.s. those of you who lurk on mjs: she just posted a message from Shirley H claiming there was no orchestration to the timing of all these bombshells. Lol! That's not even credible!!!) This is the note on MJs site.... MJ: ETA: Also, agree this whole deal–from Shirley dropping the “gossip” earlier this week, to the Glee announcement, and now the letter to Shirley revealing the split with RCA–it appears to be well orchestrated by Adam’s people. Whoever is in charge of Adam’s PR deserves a major raise. UPDATE: Shirley Halperin responds to my ETA above: I have to say based on some information I got last week, I think that the fan response to Shirley's article and finalizing GLEE could have helped push Adam into making a decision to walk. |

I had the tip, asked Adam directly at the Live Proud event, he wouldn’t comment. Same with his rep and the label. Feeling confident in my sources, I printed the story, the reaction came flooding in and it precipitated a decision of whether to move forward with a third album, or not. Both sides would have to agree on a creative direction in order to move ahead with the recording contract. That’s the god’s honest truth. Just good, old-fashioned journalism. Thanks wal!! To hear her talk she makes it sound like Adam up and quit BECAUSE of her story. You don't make a decision like that overnight, and not without a lot of legal and management advice. But the timing of Adams decision to announce this may have been triggered by her article. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if RCA knew Nothing about Adams glee deal, and maybe Ryan Murphy announced that at the time he did because Adam asked him too. Or maybe I'm drinking too much kolaid tonight! |

I have to admit I was sorta buying into the covers album after much discussion on this board. I never liked the part of the release that said RCA wanted control of the songs to be song. That seemed to smack of lack of respect for Adam's vision. They didn't seem to trust his instincts. But, as a way to reach a broader fan base, it may have worked. We all know he killed the covers he did on Idol.
I didn't think he'd ever agree to it and I'm glad he didn't. But, I keep hearing about Adam's super fan base and tend to feel a little queasy when I hear that. Super? 185,000 albums sold, right? That's where it gets scary for me for Adam.
Get out your checkbooks Ladies and Gentlemen; he listened to us. YIKES! and YAY!
