www.mjsbigblog.com/adam-lambert-walks-away-from-his-rca-contract.htm#disqus_threadETA: Also, agree this whole deal–from Shirley dropping the “gossip” earlier this week, to the Glee announcement, and now the letter to Shirley revealing the split with RCA–it appears to be well orchestrated by Adam’s people. Whoever is in charge of Adam’s PR deserves a major raise. UPDATE: Shirley Halperin responds to my ETA above: There was no orchestration, MJ. I had the tip, asked Adam directly at the Live Proud event, he wouldn’t comment. Same with his rep and the label. Feeling confident in my sources, I printed the story, the reaction came flooding in and it precipitated a decision of whether to move forward with a third album, or not. Both sides would have to agree on a creative direction in order to move ahead with the recording contract. That’s the god’s honest truth. Just good, old-fashioned journalism. Thanks wal!! To hear her talk she makes it sound like Adam up and quit BECAUSE of her story. You don't make a decision like that overnight, and not without a lot of legal and management advice. But the timing of Adams decision to announce this may have been triggered by her article. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if RCA knew Nothing about Adams glee deal, and maybe Ryan Murphy announced that at the time he did because Adam asked him too. Or maybe I'm drinking too much kolaid tonight! I SO AGREE WITH YOU! She makes it sound that had she not published that article Adam would've agreed to the covers album, which makes no sense...

Ran an errand and away from computer for a couple of hours. Peeked in to see 20 pages and checked Adam's twitter. Hell to the NO on covers! DMG, do your stuff!!!

Maybe Adam was just keeping Melvin so he could look more fierce and now that Glee is lined up, RCA is no longer his label and he is on to bigger and better things, he'll shave if we ask real nice. Sorry, just a bit of levity. I'm so excited for him and his new adventure. RCA was there when he needed them, let him do 2 great albums, executive produce one, but they dropped the ball on what songs from the fabulous TRESPASSING to release. All forgivable, but the 80s covers, when Adam did not want to be forced into that box, definitely demanded a parting of the ways. He really does have balls of steel. A role model for the the strong hearted.

Darren Hayes @darrenhayes22m Totally support and admire @adamlambert for sticking to his guns and not rolling over to make a covers record. Artists gotta be artists.

I'm so proud of Adam for not compromising and relieved that I don't have to keep trying to make lemonade out of that sour 80's cover album news.

Shirley's article is the most popular on the THR web site. At present, 162 comments, almost all in strong support of Adam's decision. Way to go!
