Thanks MyS*&@^#r! I am hoping for that press release from a new label then, and the sooner the better! What is your opinion of this IHR rumor? Any idea where this came from?? And is this IHR thing bigger than I am giving it credit for - because I'm just treating it like some puffed up jingle ball/radio festival with a livestream, but maybe I'm underestimating its' importance? Not MS50 but.... This came from fans on Twitter speculating because to the Billboard Tweet about news on Monday. A few people separately looked for something that was set to be announced on Monday. The is a big deal. It is the artists with the biggest Clear Channel Radio deals, cross genre, and gets a lot of media and industry attention. It in not like a Jingle Ball which are way for radio stations to make money from the artists and labels that is legal.

Ok thanks Q3 - so it seems that it's usually HR or some other blog/media source that obtains a confirmation from the label regarding a split, not that the label itself puts out something. I also tend to think things were already done before Adam wrote his letter. It would be nice if he got a "good luck" of some kind from his label, but I'm not expecting it.
Would love to hear new label news by HR or Billboard soon, tomorrow would be great. I'll take any and all Adam news I can get my greedy hands on lol!

I was pretty confident that we would get a new label announcement tomorrow, now I am wondering if Monday's big news is Queenbert at iHeart radio festival. The iHeart lineup will be announced at 8:30 am ET, so we will know soon enough. I'm sure it's the new label announcement . That's what my crystal ball/mashed potatoes told me yesterday . I'm with you, Kamar!
Adam's team seems to have a flow going here and I see a new label announcement too.

I enjoy trying to figure out the news in advance but I am very cautious of moving from guesses to thinking something will happen. Remember Idol judge BS from last year. I keep see posts here and else well that Adam has a new label. We do not know that. I think he has a new label deal, but he may not. And no fan knows anything about what is really going on. Since it is Billboard, and based on that letter, and JambaJim's tweet, I think Billboard has the article and it is that Adam has a new label deal. That also makes PR sense for a Monday follow-up to this story. And my guess is Shirley wrote the article. BUT that is all just guesses. I can figure out lots of reason why Adam could choose to be an independent artist and just sign with an indie label who has a distribution deal with either Sony or UMG. He would make a lot more money that way and he would have control. And I do not think they would have put that last sentence in if they did not have a deal. "My passion for the music & respect for the fans will always come first. I am excited to find a new label team who shares this vision." Q3, I know absolutely nothing about independent artists, so could you explain what a distribution deal entails and how his music could get pushed to radio should Adam go that route? Thank you! I am in the camp of thinking he does have a deal and I think the choice of the words "to find" in that last sentence is a charming double entendre. It is totally grammatically correct for something that already happened or for something he is excited about happening in the future. If it really is a deliberate double entendre he is beyond masterful. There is no way to know for sure from that sentence so we are all in the land of guessing. Idol was a real burn and so I don't want to go there again in terms of disappointment, Even though I have been more forcefully saying yes, this is done, there is no way of knowing for sure.

Q3, I know absolutely nothing about independent artists, so could you explain what a distribution deal entails and how his music could get pushed to radio should Adam go that route? Thank you! It is the same. Go viral and cross over to radio, or play the promo game to get on the radio. MACKLEMORE & RYAN LEWIS are #2 on the CHR chart, had a #1 song, and own their own label. What I have never seen is a major label US artist go viral and get major CHR airplay. I believe that is what RCA tried to do with BTIKM -- they tried to not spend the promo money to go directly to radio. It was doomed to failure because US Radio stations cannot let a major not provide promo support -- they need the money and the advertising support. That is why I was so mad about it in Dec 2011-Jan 2012, it could not work. I have to leave to do some real work. I will just leave with one last thought -- I think Adam will to be signed by a UMG label but he has other options that are very attractive. I think we will find out soon. Thank you! Looks like Adam will be in good hands regardless of where he lands/what path he chooses. That makes me very happy. These are exciting times for sure! Can't wait to find out what tomorrow brings. Have a good evening, everyone!

Didilynn said: And even more confusing to me is how the jump was made that this "news" related to SH article about Adam separating from RCA has anything to do with the IHR concert? Just timing? Because they seem so unrelated to me. And IHR is not something I could imagine Queen doing at all or even wanting to do, why? I have watched the IHR concert in the past to see Bruno streaming on my phone, he sang a few songs and it was nice but not a big deal like an awards show or even a concert, I would be disappointed if this was the "news"....... It came from this little ditty on page 2 of this thread: Luke Easton 3ku1 5h With all the sad news wth Corey acrdng to dis AL and Queen well be performing at the IHeartRadio 2013 Radio Festival seatgeek.com/blog/concerts/iheartradio-music-festival-tickets-dates-lineup Luke Easton 3ku1 5h Well not confirmed but talk is they are on their roster, and roster to be announced Monday Erica eri9 5h Can't see any mention of any artists?? There are a couple of other options that might be available to Adam that I have not seen mentioned.
1. Kobalt Publishing with whom Adam already has a signed publishing deal is also providing label services to some of their artists and I think may have actually started their own in house label.
2. Nile Rodgers who tweeted an invitation for Adam to come and write and play with CHIC organization. Nile has his own label and no doubt could sign Adam.
3. Evan Bogart who Adam worked with on Majors & Minors also I believe is reviving a record label that was his father's I think. So that may be another possibility.
The thing is any new contract will be void of one of the major drawbacks to the label that the Idol contract was and that is the very large advance that was guaranteed. It is possible that he could be signed with a much smaller advance. Adam is very frugal when he needs to be and albums can be recorded these days with much lower budgets and still be of very good quality. Major label companies have a bad habit of spending money like its going out of style.

When I listen to GET LUCKY and then SHADY---it is absolutely incomprehensible to me that the former becomes a big hit and the latter gets ignored. Just unbelievable! The beats-and Nile's funky guitar- playing are prominent in both, but the quality and the range of the singing and the catchy lyrics in Shady far outshine the repetition in Get Lucky. Does it take a musical genius to recognize this???? Is it possible that the general public can only handle a minimum amount of lyrics in one song-therefore endless songs with repetitious lyrics.......Adam, you are at a different level when it comes to your gift as a musician.

Over the past 4 years Adam have been worked with all these great songwriters/producers and they like him, so I hope knowing his situation, these songwriters/producers will still want to work with him even without the major label behind Adam now.
