Success in the music business is so much easier for the WGWG types. Especially those that get a big label push and have the good fortune to have two really catchy first singles (I'm not a fan of P2's music but even I think both his songs are really good). Other WGWG from Idol such as Cook & KA have not had the label push or the singles' quality of P2 imo. I'm out of the loop of pop music so I'm asking - is he the draw or the songs? I never really hear or read anything about him as a performer. Adam is controversial. He would be polarizing even if he weren't gay. It's an uphill battle for him with radio - and that's putting it mildly. Once he climbs that hill I'm sure he will be around for a long time. Longevity vs Flash in the Pan. And bring on the critiques of what I said - Just my opinion because I know nothing. I really think it is the songs. When Home came on the radio, a friend with me insisted it was Mumford and Sons. I think a lot of people don't actually know who P2 is, but like the Mumford and Sons sound. Well, they are learning who he is. And, organically, and in a perfect world, that's how it should happen. The songs should come first. For me, generally, I will hear a song on the radio first. And if I hear it enough, I will look up the artist. I have always said that one of Adam's "obstacles" is that people are more aware of the personality. The personality and fame came first, and he is still playing catch-up musically. I think it is harder to work in that direction. But, I am more optimistic for Adam than I ever have been. He needed to get away from RCA and find a place where people "get" him and will put it all on the line to support him. Phillip had the great fortune of having an awesome label and having perfect timing. His songs hit just as radio (including CHR)was embracing the "Mumford sound."

IG videos won't play in my system combo anymore for some reason. (There might be a plug-in needed to IE, pls tell is you know the name.) Many other people have posted about their difficulties in watching these before as well. May I suggest that IG videos would be posted with their mp4 URL (the same way as IG pics nowadays, digging the url from the source code). I believe that works for most of us. As an example, the above mentioned 'Good night' video would look like this distilleryvesper3-7.ak.instagram.com/05a236eef04a11e2934e22000aa800af_101.mp4 ETA Or maybe both addresses as comments etc are on the instagram page - or is it too tedious? Are there people that cannot watch the link in this post?

The choice to headline or to tour with another artist is effected by a lot of factors include the artist's maturity as a performer, genre, and venue availability. There is a difference between touring as an opening act or touting as a featured act or co-touring. "John Mayer with Phillip Phillips" looks like a featured artist to me. Not an opening act. Finally, a few artists -- Adam is one -- do not have natural touring partners. Daugherty goes went with Nickelback. Adam goes with ???? Madonna - that way they can share guitar players. HA! (major tongue in major cheek along with rolling eyes)

And bring on the critiques of what I said - Just my opinion because I know nothing. If Adam and P2 had not both been on Idol, they would never even be put in the same sentence. They really have nothing in common beyond that. ** JMHO P2 is very popular personally -- so I would say he is the draw. It is very difficult to make it as an alt. rock artist and he has been doing very well so far. He was a very popular Idol contestant, got some good songs (Home) and then wrote some good material. P2 wrote or co-wrote 9 of 12 tracks on his album, plus 2 of 5 bonus tracks. The two singles were written by other people. He has very little to do with Adam except they both were on Idol. ** I do not think Adam is "that" polarizing -- once you leave the Idol bubble. Look at the response to the Glee announcement. The Trespassing era radio issues have so many reasons that it is hard to assess "blame". Weak material (BTIKM, NCOE), a non-traditional promo plan (RCA cutting promo budgets and trying to get out of radio promo), a multi-genre album, no "home" radio format, etc. At the end of the day, PDs play what is popular with their audience. If BTIKM and NCOE missed only in the US, they I might agree with the "RCA did not put in enough promo $$" theory as the root cause, but Adam is popular in many countries, and these songs pretty much missed everywhere. BTIKM was a poor choice (y'all know I hated this choice for Adam) -- it does not suit Adam's voice, message, style, nothing. NCOE is a better song but what does it have to do with Adam? ** All water under the bridge and Adam is headed on his own path now.

Butternknife. Thank you so much. This will be the first time in 7 weeks for me to partake in his lusciousness. Real Life has kicked me in the butt, and now I can sit back for 3 weeks until school starts on August 8 (south starts early).

Lady Gaga might be a fit on paper but not in this lifetime is she touring with someone from Idol.
