I think it was the best live streamed concert I have ever heard/seen. Can you estimate the crowd size? Man, I am probably going to get slammed for this--and I am a huge fan, I promise!--but this concert seemed really off to me. I don't know if the stage was really small, if there were technical problems, if all that misty stuff in the air was something other than water vapor or what, but I didn't see the consistent energy and heard so many long moments of forgotten lyrics, off-timing, missed cues, and a general sloppiness to the whole thing. When I say "sloppy," it's from the perspective of a teacher who's graded a LOT of student work and I mean there seemed to be a lack of the tightness, preparation, enthusiasm, and care that I would expect from the biggest overachiever in the school. Admittedly, I've only been to two live concerts (the last one in Del Mar, which I thought was great), but I think I've watched them all online. SLO is my hometown, I've been to many a Mid-State Fair in Paso, and I know that arena; it's the not the best for concerts. (Just an aside, the Performing Arts Center at Cal Poly SLO would have been a great venue.) But he's played less-than-ideal venues before and he still sounded terrific. Listening to the videos of the Paso concert, I thought there were great moments, but the concert overall actually sounded more like a rehearsal to me. Granted, Adam's rehearsals and sound checks are better than most other artists performances and he really has set his own bar stratospherically high. Casting no aspersions on the man or his talent or his commitment. It's just a weird feeling to watch the videos of a concert and think it looked and sounded off and below par and then read that others thought it was the "best" on any level. If I'm the only one, I will consider getting my hearing and eyesight checked and my head examined, but I'm just curious if anyone else had any of the same impressions. Well, Adam does seem to be forgetting lyrics more these days. But that is likely because his mind is occupied more by the new material he is working on. (And considering I have trouble just remembering people's names sometimes, I'm not going to be critical of this.) I think what you may be responding to is that parts of the concert, especially the encore, were more like a jam session. Many people, and especially musicians, find jam sessions to be totally fun as they are often filled with some of the most spontaneous, unscripted, creative moments. (Remember the Fantasy Springs WLL!) Adam was obviously having fun with it and many people find his joy infectious. The streams & videos mostly seem to have better sound, in that they are less distorted, than what we usually get at these concerts, especially the ones where the sound system is probably rented by the venue. But the videos also sound more tinny and less full to me. Generally, this is due to the complexities of the "frequency response" of both the speakers (and other sound system components) and the recording devices. People at the venue only hear how the sound is altered by the speakers and not how it is altered by the recording devices. On top of that, everyone's ears have a bit different frequency response. So it is entirely possible that people at the venue hear it one way while people listening to recorded video/audio hear it another way and that no 2 people hear it exactly the same in either situation. How many times did people complain that the VJJs sounded off on the recorded videos, but people at the venue said it didn't sound that way in person.

★ glee ★ @gleeinnewyork 6m [News] The first two episodes of #Glee Season 5 will be a tribute to The Beatles. The third episode will be about Finn's death. So now we can start speculation about which Beatles song(s) Adam will sing!! What is on your wishlist? I doubt Adam will be on the first 2 (Beatles) episodes. Or even the 3rd one. So maybe we're looking at November? I'm no expert though and those here that watch the show regularly would know more. I just can't see them introducing Adam until after the Finn episode. I see Patti answered you and since she was there she is the best to judge. Others who were there have said the same. As you said some have even dubbed it the BEST EVER! It's often hard to tell from videos. But don't feel bad because you're not completely alone. I've seen a few comments agreeing with your take. Different strokes and all.... What makes me sad is that this is probably the last concert of era#2. TRESPASSING WE HARDLY KNEW YE! ETA - And what Red Panda said. Some people prefer a laid back relaxed, less scripted performance. I love both.

Interesting comments, squidbert. I'm wondering if one man's meat isn't another man's poison. I loved the concert, loved, loved, loved it. I saw him as relaxed, casual, enjoying and reacting to the crowd, being loose and goofy but on point with his singing. I only noticed one lyric fail, but then, when he is on stage I am soooo easily distracted by a body roll that I may have missed others. I saw him enjoying the hell out of his music, improving, doing crazy runs, scatting, all the things that I look at and think, my god, to have a talent like that, to be able to go out on a musical limb and just play around with melodies and words, all the while maintaining that incredible voice, well, I just feel I am seeing a master at work. So maybe what felt like rehearsal quality to you, felt like a more relaxed, less bound Adam to me. And honestly, I would rather see an organic performance than a perfect one. I felt I had more of a sense of Adam than if everything had been perfect. He has the talent to go outside the box, and I love it when he does. Less structure feels good to me. And I understand that you are a fan, that is definitely something we have in common! Not every time will be the best for every person... Squidbert I think he's becoming a little less perfectly memorized stage actor and a little more rock and roll loose right now. Less P op perfecty, more free, impressionist, light playful. Wider vibrant strokes ; ) I love the freedom. I'm guessing AYGGMW and Music Again were two songs that stuck out for you as less than stellar and I loved them both, imperfections and all. He was fun and adorable after messing up.

Ryan Murphy never a guarantee whether Adam's going to have a regular part, it's just us, fans, wishful thinking. It's at lease my wishful thinking. Maybe he will only show up in one special episode, just like PLL. Who knows?!

I just think it's a little less Pop perfecty and a little more rock and roll free, impressionist, fun. Wider vibrant strokes ; ) ITA -- I think that is exactly what is going on. And I like Adam unleashed. I am looking forward to A3 more than ever.

Considering how many times she has fangirled over Adam and spoken about how very much she wants to duet with Adam, I think it very possible that she may want Adam on these episodes.

And what does this mean?! Erica eri9 @nilerodgers Awesome!! Let me know if you're keen to catch up with some kiwi Glamberts when you're in New Zealand in Dec!!! ETA: It seems we might learn more about Adam's plans if we follow some of his friends (like Dr. Bri and Nile) on Twitter! I'm sorry for being dense, but I still don't get it. A kiwi Glambert indicates Nile is going to be in New Zealand. I don't see what this has to do with Nile's tweet to Adam. Or are you suggesting I go read all of Dr. Bri's and Nile's tweets to figure it out? That was my tweet to Nile! Yes, he's coming to NZ in December (according to his events) however someone on his team is geographically challenged as the following day it says Sydney New Zealand!! (NZ & Australia are different countries remember!! LOL!!) A group of us are planning to go to his concert (not sure where or what band it will be) and we were imagining what it would be like to BERT with Nile!!! I don't imagine we'll be so lucky, but one never knows!!! :D Scroll down: www.nilerodgers.com/events-list

hmmmm... Murphy says at least three times that they'll shoot three episodes--two of which are already written--- then do an episode that deals with "Finn's death", and then the show will go on a long hiatus. I don't know what "long hiatus" means. Weeks with no Glee? Months? jeeeeez... They have a Fall and Spring season scheduled for GLEE this year. They were to do Fall, then take a hituas to premiere a new show "Rake" then the show was to be back in Spring 2014. After the winter break, there were to be new episodes with a will finish around June 2014 FAX bought 22 episodes for this season. GLEE was supposed to start shooting on July 29, 2013. They pushed the schedule back 2 week so the writers and producers could rewrite the storylines and come up with a plan for how to deal with Cory's death. On July 19, 2013, Glee announced the season premiere would air on September 26, one week after the original date of Sept 19, and filming will begin in early August. Fox has it on the schedule through November. So perhaps they do 9 or 10 shows in the Fall instead of the planned 11, but they will be on for more than 5 shows. ETA: Ryan Murphy says stuff all the time that turns out not to happen. Thanks Q3. I am in Cassie's mindset on this. Professionals move on. I would think that working together and keeping the show alive would be therapeutic and it sounds like Lea is more on board with that than terminating the show and having a large number of unemployed people. How would that be a fitting legacy or eulogy for someone you love who loved that show? Perhaps when they are working and together again they will find their way to another space for Glee that is necessarily different without Cory but nevertheless not only viable but successful and fulfilling.
