Darnell is in charge of The Voice? When did this information happen?! NVM, found article. I think that is quite funny! Lady Maserati, Matt Carter took all his information from the Shirley Halperin article and put his spin on it. Darnell has a great job at Warner... Darnell has development of new prime-time shows for broadcast and cable networks, oversight of the studio's Telepictures Productions, which makes programming for the daytime and early evening hours including "The Ellen DeGeneres Show". "Extra" and "TMZ." He also has Warner Horizon Unscripted Television, another unit at the studio and the maker of NBC's "The Voice" and ABC's long-running franchise "The Bachelor." I doubt that he will have much to do with The Voice -- Mark Burnett and Alan Carter pretty much run that show (with about a dozen other Ex Producers, Co-Producers and other execs.) ETA: ladymaserati8 - yes, Shirley's article refers to a source confirming that Adam was in discussions with Idol 2 weeks ago. But apparently they have not decided on the judges yet. Also if Shirley's sources are correct, Jennifer Hudson is not going to be a judge.

@mys*&@^#r, agreed, I found that hilarious too. And I have no idea why NBC took him. Q3: So, in this revolving door between Fox and NBC, Darnell moved over to NBC, where Reilly originally came from. But for the past 5 years they were both at Fox and those were the years of decline for idol (they got lucky in season 8 to get Adam, it would have been a very lame duck without him). So now, we are hoping Reilly has the brilliant ideas to save this show? And we are about to get a panel that has all kinds of question marks written all over it. How is this show going to be rescued? I want idol to be good again. It is and always has been imo the better show compared to The Voice, independent of what the official party line was in the last year regarding this matter.

Darnell is not at NBC -- he is at Warners Television which is now the producer of The Voice (they also produced Season 3) and many other programs. I also would like Idol to be fun again but I am skeptical. However, I enjoy The Voice a lot.

We all know how much I love Idol. I want it to recover & I want Adam on it! When I was at the tour on Tuesday, I got verklempt watching those kids on stage! The show was good! They were all good! Some were great! The one thing I thought was that Idol is the only singing competition that has produced stars!

Jennifer Lopez is not going to end up on the judges panel. She may be a "big star," but she isn't THAT big. She also isn't going to pull in the young, pop audience that someone like Miley Cyrus might. I also can see no reason why she would even be interested at this point---she got her career boost the first time, and the show is coming off a really, really rough season. I guess I just got a different vibe from Ryan. I think we are going to see a much different panel.
I still say we are looking at Keith Urban, Miley Cyrus, Adam, and an R&B artist. All bases would be covered.

Well, I think people "use" Shirley Halperin. I think people leak the info they want out through her for specific strategic purposes. Right now, TPTB at Idol want to get the Judge speculation and buzz going. But, they don't want the surprise revealed until their big moment next Thursday.

But it is not going to be easy to reinvigorate Idol. ** Idol is the only current US singing competition that has produced stars. XFactor UK has done it. Idol Canada has done it. I am sure there are others outside the US. And prior to Idol there are US shows that produced stars. Star Search and The Original Amateur Hour are the most famous. The biggest star from a talent competition is probably Frank Sinatra, who appeared on the radio version of the The Original Amateur Hour with "The Hoboken Four". It was where he was "discovered".

As I remember, J-Lo left Idol to devote herself to making movies. I believe the only movies she made in the last two years were a bit in a B action movie called "Parker" and a role in the ensemble of some B comedy. So much for devoting herself to the cinematic arts.
Gee, I hope I don't sound too bitter.
As far as music, haven't her most recent hits been pairings with Pitbull? Her concerts too have been teamings with Enrique and I think Pitbull? She seems to rely heavily on being partnered with whatever hot Latin male is available to sell herself as a performer.
To me, she is Jenny Been Around the Block Too Many Times. But then I know I can be a bitch.
