Jennifer Lopez is not going to end up on the judges panel. She may be a "big star," but she isn't THAT big. She also isn't going to pull in the young, pop audience that someone like Miley Cyrus might. I also can see no reason why she would even be interested at this point---she got her career boost the first time, and the show is coming off a really, really rough season. I guess I just got a different vibe from Ryan. I think we are going to see a much different panel. I still say we are looking at Keith Urban, Miley Cyrus, Adam, and an R&B artist. All bases would be covered. I sure hope you are right. Miley, Keith, Adam and a R&B artist would be a fantastic panel. Miley has got a darling and fun personality which is just what the show needs. Adam of course would be great, and I have a feeling Keith would come into his own working with these two charmers. |

Well, I think people "use" Shirley Halperin. I think people leak the info they want out through her for specific strategic purposes. Right now, TPTB at Idol want to get the Judge speculation and buzz going. But, they don't want the surprise revealed until their big moment next Thursday. In the past, they have leaked it entirely before the official press announcement. Shirley's article looks like a leak from JLo's manager Benny Medina. "...Lopez's manager Benny Medina, who, another insider says is “pushing hard to do a deal,” is asking for a hefty pay raise for Lopez." Fox has no advantage in leaking this, so my guess is it is coming from someone who works for or with Medina. ETA: Miley was on last year's list but has she been mentioned by any sources this year? I can't find anything that indicates she is in the mix. Note - Miley was part of the iHR Music Festival announcement because she is one of the performers. That involves Ryan but has nothing to do with Idol. |

I guess if these two are judges, we can expect the following "singles" to be released on iTunes next year: a J Lo- Will I duet, a Will-Pitbull duet, and, of course, the inevitable re-teaming of J Lo and Pitbull.

As I remember, J-Lo left Idol to devote herself to making movies. I believe the only movies she made in the last two years were a bit in a B action movie called "Parker" and a role in the ensemble of some B comedy. So much for devoting herself to the cinematic arts. Gee, I hope I don't sound too bitter. As far as music, haven't her most recent hits been pairings with Pitbull? Her concerts too have been teamings with Enrique and I think Pitbull? She seems to rely heavily on being partnered with whatever hot Latin male is available to sell herself as a performer. To me, she is Jenny Been Around the Block Too Many Times. But then I know I can be a bitch. Yes, she left Idol and not very pleasantly for the show. NYT: Ms. Lopez cited the other aspects of her career, “my movies, my music, my this, my that,” and the demands of her twins, who are now 4. “Something has to give,” she said. Idol dropped 30% in the ratings her second you -- and while last year was a greater percentage drop, the absolute drop AI11 was worse. I think she did a lot of "my this, my that".  ** Idol may really want her and have lost their minds, but I think her people are saying she is top of the list and her people are saying they are in negotiation with Idol. Similarly, Fox denied that they tried to sign her to replace Mariah last year. They usually just No Comment on these rumors. |
